Tiptonic Gearlever Help!!

Hi all,
Was doign a bit of work on the car this weekend. Went to replace the Gear Knob and the nut has been stripped!!! Very frustrating!!
Has anyone got any brihgt ideas on how I could get the Tiptronic Knob off???
Will be putting a pic up here shortly.

I'm guessing the problem is not how to actually do the procedure normally it's that the bolt/nut is stuffed and won't come off. For that I'm sorry I have nothing off the top of my head.

Yeah, you are right.........The actual 'how to' is easy....but this damn nut wont budge - wne tout and bought a long sprocket set and because the nut is stripped nothing is gripping......I twisted the end of my long nose pliers.......It it on there tight!!
Im not going to let this beat me!! haa haa.

Hmmmm, nothing I can think of right now either.
I have a spare one of these if you have to wreck it to get it off though I think. If you look like having to going down this path, let me know and ill check to make sure its OK first.

Tried a bit of WD-40 in there? Works miracles in the right circumstances

Yeah, The good old WD-40.......tried it....but going to give it another good go tonight..........just strange that it is sooooo tight. Unless some moron before me has clued it in......
