auto to manual

i have had thoughts about getting my FTO converted from an auto to a manual, however i have no idea about how much it would cost, if it can be done, where and who can do it.
if anyone could shed some light on my situation, it would be appreciated.

There have been previous posts on this. Do a search for "conversion". But the short answer is, it's not simple.

The reason I didn't get a manual was this: only about 10% of FTOs are manual, I got sick of searching for a manual with all the other features I wanted, so when I found one with all my other prefered options, I bought it.

actually i didnt get a manual becuse i smoked and i liked to have my hands free to light smokes and eat and drink, but i quit smoking and now when i drive i get bored. my only concern is when i trhow my remote starter on it, in a manual its dangerous incase i leave it in gear

with most remote starter kits in manual cars, they wont start if the car is in gear, its a little safety feature the starter kits have.

Remote starter kits are illegal on manual cars whether or not they have that safety feature built in.

not to mention that it will void your insurance cover indefinitely!
...oh and also, i've been told (by someone who makes a living out of installing car alarms) that having a remote starter kit also makes it easier for the car to be stolen because if the thief knows what he's doing, it's very easy to hotwire and bypass the key ignition on the car...

thanks for that little bit of info there mikey, my car alarm arrives tomorow... well today... from america and it has that feature in it. So thats something i'll definitly tell them not to wire up.
