Help with buying FTO please!

Hello, I am a new member and new to FTO's, well I have known about them for a while, being a Mitsubishi fan, but I haven't looked at buying one until now. I have a few questions that I hope someone can help me with, I have tried to search for some answers but I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

There is a Manual GPX FTO for sale for $7000 near me that has been damaged in an accident, it ran into something at the front. The damage is mainly to the front spoiler/bumber piece that will have to be replaced and so will the bonnet, radiator, airconditioning thingy and oil cooler. Everything else at the front seems to be ok and the damage appears to be fairly minor, the body/chassis seems ok. Also the rear bumber, radio and wheels are missing. Apparently the owner has compliance papers etc. but since he hasn't fixed it he hasn't complianced it. Now with that background here are some questions.

1. I would want a LSD and from other posts it seems a cusco is about $1500 and fairly easy to obtain?
2. How much would it cost to complaince (assuming it can be, I would check first of course)?
3. I have seen the front bar for $595 at Just Jap imports but I can't find a price for the rear bar. Would it be about the same?
4. Is there a carbon fiber bonnet (and price?) for the FTO or would I have to get an original?
5. While I was fixing it I would look at a port and polish and balance (is that about $2000 - $2500?), air filter, and it already has an exhaust and headers. With these mods and the LSD would it (GPX MIVEC manual) do about a 15sec 1/4mile?
6. The reinforcing behind the front bar of the FTO appears to be welded together (not bolted) and it is bent so can it be fixed or replaced with maybe an aluminium space frame type thing?

Thanks to anyone who replys and I am very sorry if all this has already been answered.

be carefull if it has no compliance plate i cant see how you can get it complied as he would have to have taken delivery of the compliance plate from DOTARS. I could be wrong but as far as i know no one yet has done all the nessecary work to be able to import and comply FTOs under the new regualtions.

I would not buy it unless he has the compliance plate as you wont get it licensed with out it.

on the carbon bonnet, if the one on that car isn't too badly damaged i'll take it off you and use it to create a carbon bonnet (we are currently looking at doing this for the club - you will get a bonnet for half price if we can use your's).

if the car isn't complied now you will have next to no chance of getting it complied, as far as i can tell from the rules. the telling thing will be when it was imported to australia.

Cusco LSD i can supply them for you not sure of that pricetag of 1500.00 but it sounds close. fitting will be more expect probably somewhere around the 1000.00 mark for fitting.

i can supply most front bars for you, which one do you want? original / face lift / veil side ?

port and polishing? well ive just been talking with a few people about this and we are not sure as to what gain it will provide you with. the pricing is about right, if you go ahead with it please post before and after dynos/

anyway good luck with your purchase and welcome to the club.

P.S. what state are you in?
