Posting for a mate, where do everyone in ACT get their car's RWC from. My friend is having trouble finding someone to do his car, as its modify. Its nothing major either, is just the normal stuff like filter, exhaust...etc.

Modified cars have to go through Dickson Motor Registry.

I've heard things the other way too... but thats the main one, and cops, rego etc will HAVE to except that.

New FTO Registrations in the ACT have to go throught the motor registry. They do stuff with UV lights etc to make sure the car hasnt been chopped/stolen (as well as the roadworthy check). This isnt done with all brands of car, but for FTO is required.

After that, if an inspection is requred, certified mechanics can carry out the work. RWC not required when selling.

Dickson Motor Vehicle Registry.

They'll go over it with a fine tooth comb.

Back in the day when I got my FTO, you can take it to an authorised vehicle inspection, so some mechanics can do it, some tyre places, etc.

You just need to ask them if they can do it.

Two and a half years ago I took mine to Brisgstone Tyre Centre up in Belconnen. I paid $35, got my paper and then went to the Rego office to get my rego.

I must say, that they did find a broken CV boot, but they kinda missed the fact that I had no Catalitic converter on the the exhaust, which I didn't know at the time also...

So what you saying now is, there is no way it can be done without going through Dickson?

Correct
