FTO AUSTRALIA

I seem to be getting some power loss while cornering. No spluttering or 'rough engine' noises, just wont accellerate while cornering (engine does not change pitch either) - any ideas.

And before someone states the obvious, the problem still occurs with a full tank of fuel

mine does that when cold when before my oil change haha

hmmm, maybe the FTO is just too smart to make your car slow down while u're cornering... haha.. its one of the safety measurement by mitsubishi team i guess

Its gotta be one of 3 things... fuel, air & spark. Fuel issues certainly give the choking effect, spark more of a stutter, which leaves air. And you've done some mods on your intake - perhaps there is a vacuum leak somwhere when cornering....? Unsure. Checked error codes?

It might not be a engine related problem, it might be coming from the drive train, brakes etc.

Maybe there is some lash in the wheel bearings and when you corner there is enough movement that the brake rotor start to apply pressure to the brake pads and calipers, I have only see this on a brand new crewman but it didn't suck and power from the engine, just made a lot of noise as the brake rotor was rubbing on the caliper.

But it could be other things aswell.

I think Ben is right on the money on this one. Does it feel like when you plant your foot just as you're exiting the corner that there's no fuel getting to the engine?

Weird anomaly isn't it? Next time it happens see how much fuel you got left in your tank, I'll take a stab that's it's under about 1/3 or a 1/4.

Feels more like the engine is idling and the accelerator pedal is temporarily disconnected. If fuel starving, I would have thought I would have the same problem in a straight line - but it doesnt - its only around corners.....

Feeling a little dumb right now. Dont seem to be losing traction, but would traction control do this (havent had a chance to test yet as its been raining).....

check your ISC. Does it happen more when heavy breaking and taking a corner quicker than normal?

Your ISC isnt adjusting your base idle quick enough, so its almost a sense of loosing rev, and because revs are so low, you plant the gas, and it take a while for your engine to increase revs.

I guess this could feel like the throttle cable is disconnected.

Give your ISC a clean then try to induce the problem.

What's an ISC?

I was wondering what that was too, but felt dumb enough already so decided not to ask.

Can confirm that it is the traction control. Did some tests today. Have wondered if it worked for the past 18 months as I was never able to tell for sure as the switch didnt change when I pressed it. The power loss definitely disappears when I hit the off side of the switch (Ohh so much better!!! )
