Hey my fuel gauge needle has just gone dead on me. Possible causes?

I just changed my O2 sensor so I'd be pretty annoyed if the cause of crappy fuel consumption was just because of the needle.

It might be the sender in the fuel tank, wiring or the gauge.

Nothing dude........I just pulled out the instrument cluster then to see if the needle had free movement and once I started her up again everything worked again except for the fuel.

What would be the best place to take that to?

Automotive Electrician?

Actually the reason I changed my 02 sensor was that I noticed about a couple of months ago that even on a full tank the needle only used to sit just underneath the 'Full' line. It used to sit a fraction higher than that and stay there until I've at least gone about 40km then the needle starts to drop. I don't know now if my fuel consumption was f*cked in the first place until I get this needle fixed.

from memory the FTO fuel needle will reset after u move it around etc.

I would pull the cluster out, take of the front sh*t and plug it back in. Then start the engine and move the needle with your finger to see if it works at all...if its caught (which happened to me once also on the other guages) it wont work either...

is it empty?

The fuel tank is full man I just filled it up tonight near my house.

The second time I started the car I left the fuel needle in the "Full" position where it would normally sit when on a full tank. It just sank slowly back to "Empty".
