Aight well I'm refinancing my loan (whatever's left of it) and borrowing an additional $4000

I'm thinking about adding the following things to my car

RPW extractors including piping from UAS approx - $1200 (??)
SAFC fuel controller $$$??? - How much is this? about 550?
possibly a new ECU or Break upgrade - how much will both of these cost?
well what else could I do to it.. I know the ECU is the last thing I wanna get so I dont have to keep tuning it and blowing cash everytime i get a mod

and obviously replace the stock intake pipe that i have now :?
i dont know if should just get a heatshield or run the pipe down to the front (i know frozenwaffles had his car ridden off cos of this, I don't want the same to happen to me, so not so keen on this)

What should I do with the money, i need suggestions :D

non engine wise, i'd get the stuff below if i had 4 grand :D
i've got it programmed in my phone

extractors/cat/etc
strut bars all round
version r spoiler
shift kit
gear number indicator, & shift light
and light weight rims +30 offset and 235mm wide tyres

and a launch control system if it fits in the budget

out of the budget:
rollbars
brakes
complete engine upgrade to whatever
a service
a rollcage
racing seats + 4 point harness
spare semi slick wheels and tyres

best mods for the buck i reckon is a LSD and a upgraded rear anti roll bar 8)

am I the only one thinking this...

don't borrow money to modify your FTO.

considering that its 10% - 20% interest rate :|

my loan's set up over a period of 7 years for a little more than 8% interest.

I was originally thinking to pay off my loan first then spend money on mods..
but I'm always paying the minimum amount I have to pay cos I wanna save money to spend on my car, so I thought I'd get a loan to do mods, so then I can just concentrate on paying off the loan without getting sidetracked by spending money on mods.
Hope that's a decent enough reason to refinance my loan..
but I spose it's something I need to think about if I'm spending the money on the car, especially when it would add much value to the car at all :?

Well lets say I did go ahead with it, I'm after mods which improve handling + a little extra power.. bang for my buck!

n i don't think i'm gonna get NOS lol..
so for what i'm looking for, what else would be a good thing to get? I know RPW extractors I definately want, how much to upgrade brakes? I'm guessing approx 1.2k?
what kind of ecu could I get for the FTO and how much do these approx cost? lotta questions.. :o

Spend $1200 on an exhaust system (headers to tip)
Spend $1200 on a piggy back ECU (SMT6)
Spend $500 on GPX calipers, RB74 Pads & slotted rotors
Spend $1000 on stiffer (lowered!) springs, bushes, strut braces & swaybars.

There, done!

$4000? buy a used kawasaki ZZR 250 as a daily driver
and use the money you save on petrol to pay off the loan

I'm with khunjeng on this, $4000 isn't much. why get a loan for it, even on 8% you still have to pay at least $2240 of interest. Thats more then half of your budget.

Keep in mind if for some reason you can't repay the loan, you will be penalise with a huge interest fee, it can be from 22%-30% and that will calculate from day one & not remainding of the loan or contract.

Save up your money & then get things done.

For instant power gain (and you can do it yourself and save a bit of money) change your air intake and add in a CAI. Cost about $200 bucks. Plus it'll make the engine bay nicer. Stock pipe ain't too flashy.

Unless you're planning to do some track work, brakes can be left for later. Sublime, you own a GR? source out GPX calipers.

Then add extractors $700-$800 including installation (approx)

There's a lot you can do to the car.

I'm buying all the parts one at a time when I have money and install them in one go and get it tuned, save's time going back n forth to the mechanic and it'll save you a bit also.

Spend $1200 on a piggy back ECU (SMT6)

about the SMT6 ECU.. If I got this, then can I still get the SAFC II fuel controller (just like the one KJ had up for sale) or does this basically do the same thing as the piggy back?

and I got this from one of the other posts I was browsing through
SG wrote: best bet for anyone who wants to upgrade their air fitler from standard is either a properly shielded cold air kit from UAS or a rampod kit from RPW which puts the filter in the front bumper
Extra power is very appealing to me at the moment

Forget the SAFC altogether, its just bling. SMT6 will do all that plus more.

ah ic
well to be honest I'm just after more power than anything else, but I definately will spend the money for GPX calipers and strut bar for front and back.

other than that I spose it'll be the extractors, the SMT6 and hmm.. something more that'll gimme a bit more of a boost 8)

lol.. I remember your words Ben, after the cruise "I'll walk away needing to spend thousands" and this is exactly what's happened!

lol yeah welcome to my world, my loan or 'line of credit' never seems to go below a certian amount

Also there is a new version of the SMT controller available, the SMT 7. Might be worthwhile checking that out.
