clicking noise .. tappets?

clicking noise that gets faster/slower with my rpm.. im guessing its tappets. i have a GR and use 15w40 oil. only happens on some days, and usually i find that if i just rev the car up to 4000 or so in neutral before i start driving it goes away

sound like noisy tappets? mechanic pointed out last time i went that some cog thing below the timing belt might give a funny noise like this on a cold start for some reason, but he no speaka good engrish so i didnt really understand
