Hi All

I have a really weird problem with my car, last week when I was sitting at the lights the car stalled. I tried to start it again but the can felt like it had no petrol (half a tank of petrol) …… It finally it started half 30min and it stalled again half way home..
So I worked out it only stalls and wont start when it’s warm up..

I been looking at the pass post and I’m thinking it might be the stepper motor, any idea guys???? But I thought when something is wrong with the stepper motor it only stalls when it’s cold….

please help guys... the car has not beening driven for the past week and i really want to get it on the road again.

when was the last time u had an oil and fuel filter change?

oil about 5000km ago but dont know about the fuel filter, but i dont think its the fuel filter cos its fine when its cold.

sounds wierd. I assume it idles ok cold and then gos crazy when hot...is urs a GPX/GR? probably stepper motor...

Do you run the petrol down until the last bit or the light comes on for reserve, if yes it sounds like the fuel pump.

Last time it happened it still had half a tank of petrol. i thought i was the fuel pump as well, but its fine when its cold.

I've been awake for more than a day but crank angle sensor? I think that's what I mean to say.

what is a crank angle sensor... ??? i was driving the car last night and it was fine, but i know it not fixed..

doesnt the crank angle sensor sense when the car gets a spark if its broken shouldnt the car not get spark and not start at all

I'm not sure how the FTO reacts with a sensor dropping out, some cars won't run but some of the new cars like the new Holden Rodeo V6 with the alloytech motor which is the same as the VZ commodore can run with sensors disconnected even the MAF sensor, the ECU will just guess how much fuel to add for it to be able to run and display the engine light.

so with a crank angle sensor dropping out, it still could get spark from the readings off the cam angle sensor.

Most off the newer cars will run with a faulty sensor just in case your in the middle of no where and get get help.

Nah not on the FTO, if the crank angle goes it dies completely. Its in a dodgy spot near the belts. If a belt lets go it can take out the sensor. Rectified with plastic gaurding post 97 I believe.

Im leaning toward Bobz's call... could be the fuel pump packing up

i'd be guessing something fuel related...
a couple of times i've gotten a bad tank of fuel and
it runs perfect while cold but as soon as it warmed up
a bit it idled like an absolute dog!!!
was really lucky it never stalled out on me.

if you always buy your fuel from the same place
it might be worth a try filling up somewhere different
(and different brand) just to see if there's any change.

just updating everyone, i took the car to the mechanics and they told me it was the airflow senor plug that was playing up 30 dollors to fix.

I hope the problems is fixed....
