i had that problem too

1, its the engine mounts

2, its your gear box

or during the drive?

Yeah the engine mounts are notorious for breaking, give them a check first :)

If its the engine mounts, the engine will probably lift about an inch under accelleration:

Get someone to help you. While pressing brake, lightly press accellerator. Get your mate to have a look when you do this to see if engine lifts......

I had the exact same problem -- my car would physically shake at low speeds between 25-40km/h and only when i accelerated. it was strange that it stopped at 40, but it turned out to be my CV joints. replaced both left and right outter joints and it's fine now.

might be worth consideration...

Where'd you get your CV joints replaced? and how much?

My mechanic I've been going to for a while -- a little place in knoxfield called tropic motors. cost me $120 each joint + 1hr of labour

I have that problem...been trying to work it out for ages. But I had my CV joints geased up a while back. Might get them to check them out again.

well, along with those shakes I also had clicks that i could hear coming from the left of the car, but the clicks were inconsistent and only happened when they felt like it so it was hard for my mechanic to tell for sure that it was the CV joints causing it.

It wasn't until they got so bad that the steering wheel would physically turn to the left upon take off that I took it back to him and made him change it  Now my car has never driven better :D

No, it means you need a wheel alignment

Unless it's also 'clicking' loudly when you're turning also. Poor CV joints. :(

$100.00 goes to stuffed torque convertor. I bet your car shakes when under load. At higher revs it seems fine right?? Because the torque covertor is not slipping as much. Do you hear a sort of chooping noise when your driving next to houses with your window down?? Do you experience weird jolts or vibrations when reversing?? Do you experience a loss of power at low revs?? Does your car tend to stay stationary when releasing the brake at a set of lights??? Check your tranny oil is it black?? If so your auto is burning up. Black is very very bad.

If so make sure your get your car to an auto mechanis asap. You dont want me be stuck at a set of lights with your torque covertor ripped to streads.

I cant remember who it was but somoene in this forum was asking why they would not engage drive. He bascially mentioned the car seems to be stuck in nutural and was an elec problem and after days of dianosis he could figure it out. I advised him it was the torque convertor, he bascially would had been suffering the above problems before the torque convertor totoally let go.
