mivec engine rebuild costs

Hi,
My friends mivec type-r fto has broken down and requires a rebuild, we have been quoted $1900aud for a main bearing kit, gasket kit and rings from northshore mitsubishi.
We also paid $1500aud for a crank (we weren't able to find one second hand).
Are these normal costs for these parts or is there anywhere cheaper to get them?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Northshore is pretty good dealer wise for parts prices.
Consider going abroad for parts:

are two good suppliers for FTO parts.

Tell him to check the oil more often!
Bearing and gasket kit seem a bit pricey?
For my engine, balancing was apparently really hard, 60 hours spent or so on it?
But, I did tell him I want everything to weigh exactly the same!

60 hours to balance, I hope they don't charge a lot by the hour, unless it was charged to insurance, because at where I work we charge around $90/hour.

No the engine was balanced as a favour to my mechanic
I said "if it's not silky smooth, you are taking it out again"
And the rebuild is on his expense too

The owner of this FTO hadn't checked the oil in the car for a very long time and the damage was done due to oil starvation
