Help! - Victoria - Buying a car interstate

Hi All,
I am currently looking at buying a second more practical car (ie. a wagon) and something has come up in Victoria that would be perfect. (I am in Hobart)
At this stage I have been in contact with the owner and have numerous pictures, details etc etc and ultimately I will get it checked out by a decent mechanic.
But.........before I go to that extent, would anyone be keen to go and have a look at it for me and check it out from an older generation layman's perspective?
I am happy to compensate in the form of numerous beer tokens.
Cheers
Chris
P.S You will be impressed if you go for a test drive!

Thanks Guys,
Sorry, couldn't post too many details in initial post as I didn't know the suburb the car was located in.
I have someone looking at it now so it's all OK.
The car is a early model Subaru Twin Turbo Wagon.
I got sick of waiting for the Legnum VR4 to get import approval............
Cheers

BTW
Anyone know of any good/trustworthy workshops near the city or near Bundoora?
I am after a workshop to do a thorough mechanical check.
Doesn't matter if it is not so cheap as long as it is done properly.
Cheers

Thanks Mate,
Unfortunately I already have it booked into Pro-Tek at Preston. (have read a few reviews on the Skyline forums)
They are doing a full check including a run on the dyno, compression test and leak down test.
Will let you know what they are like, they seemed OK over the phone and knew what they were talking about.
Cheers

Have you found someone to compliance a Legnum?
Don't remember saying that I have found anywhere that did..........
You may wish to check out

However, if anyone is looking at having work done on their car I can reccomend Pro-Tek automotive
http://www.protekautomotive.com.au, they did an exceptional job on checking out the Legacy I was looking at purchasing. They sent me a full report and dyno charts.
The sad part is that the Legacy was a complete lemon that needs a lot of work.
Cheers
