Alarm & Immobiliser

Just got my 95' FTO :D

I realised that it already had central locking, but not sure if it does have an immobiliser on it as well. Any way to check?

Also, if I were to fix the alarm and immobiliser myself, would it be hard? I reckon the high costs come from the installation itself, and not the product.

Thanks.

Firstly, check with your insurance company. A lot of them specify the type of alarm that needs to be fitted to the car ie, 3 point immoiliser, self arming etc. Secondly if you're not sure you've got an immobliser, get in the car, lock it with the alarm button and then try to start the engin, if it doesnt start you got one

BTW welcome to the club :D

I don't have a remote alarm system for my car, just central locking (have to use keys to lock doors). Not sure bout the immobiliser though. :D

You usually need a remote to disable the immobiliser so you probably don't have one.

Most immobilisers are linked to alarm systems these days but immobilisers usually automatically arm themselves after about a minute.
