Heres the situation........
Changed the batter last week so cant be the battery cause its new.
When i startup the car i turn the key and when it hits the ignition nothing happens. Just this weird buzzing sound from the engine bay. you know the sound that your wipers make when you spray water on the glass.
That kinda sound.
anyways i have already checked all the fuses to see if any are blown both interior and in the engine bay. At first i thought it might have been the ignition fuse link but thats fine.
can anyone offer any suggestions or what to do ? the car was working like 2 days ago and now its dead.

Sounds like the starter motor. Tap it a few times and try it again. If that works, it's time to reco/replace your motor.

Agreed, sounds like starter is dead / dying

If your hearing that buzzing sound, its sounds like the motor is working but the solinoid is probably not pushing the pinion gear to the flywheel, so it might be the solinoid on the starter motor.

why did you change the battery? It didnt start? check every fuse again, even better with a multimeter. If there are no blown fuses check the battery is still charged. If that still does not work get under your car spot the starter motor then tap it a few times with a hammer.
there the obvious reasons if that failed call a mechanic.

i have the same problem again!!!
this is my case...
early morning, got into the car... after about 5-10 minutes drive, reached a traffic light. When it turns blue, stepped on the accelerator until the redline and the engine just suddenly died. the battery light in the dash board showed up, and when I stepped on the clutch and shift into 3rd gear (the car is about 80kmh) and i can hear the engine sound (woooooom from higher to lower pitch), the battery light was gone... however, the RPM kept pointing zero and the car just wont accelerate when i stepped on the accelerator... and finally the car stopped and never start again.
When i turn the ignition key, there is no ignition sound, but some "buzzing" sounds from the engine bay. The battery points to around 9-10v before ignition and reach 8v when trying to ignite. Is it the battery problem, alternator problem, or could it be the "stepper motor" problem??
By the way, how to solve the problems if its due to stepper motor?
Thanks very much

haha, sorry the traffic light turned green
anyway, i just had a look at the car... drove another car to the "dead spot", and had a jump start cable connected to both batteries.. but still cannot be started.
So it cant be the battery problem... what causes it??
arrhhh, frustrated

I had a similiar issue. The stepper motor would cause my car to cut out at the lights, then the starter motor was worn down and it was a flip of the coin as to if it would start or not. I had half the problem fixed when my mechanic friend reconditioned the starter motor for me. Start every time now, I just need to fix the cutting out part. :p

how does it involve the stepper motor when the car cant start at all?
I thought that a stepper motor controls the RPM?
And also, this is the first time i see this problem. The car just died all of the sudden when the car is "MOVING" with a speed of around 80kmph.. Which makes it quite dangerous if it happens again.
The car didnt get stalled when waiting at the traffic light but it stalled when the car is running so i wonder what causes the problem...
And the thing is, a second ago the car is reving with 7000-8000RPM and the next second the car has 0 RPM (and this is even when the car is with gear and moving and that makes me puzzled).
Can it be due to fuse? is there any fuse which connects between engine and battery? When I turn the key to on, all things function, headlamps, signal lamps, wipers, brake lights, radio, and everything but when i turn the key from "on" to "start", nothing happens, just the clicking sound from the engine bay...
anyone can help me please??? For your information, the car is being pushed to the service lane (thank God there's one beside) and is left there for one day already..
Thanks much!!

Join the RACV and call them out to have a look!
These days I see a lot of people writing on the forums asking about their problems. The issue is, they dont seem to even know the basics of mechanics. How are you meant to fix/diagnose a problem if you know the basics?
Diagnosing problems is sometimes difficult even with the car in front of you, let alone based on the brief information you've posted in this thread.
Having said that, take off your timing belt cover and have a look at the timing belt. Check to see if it is still intact.
If you still have power, look at what components are involved when the car starts. Is the stepper motor turning over? Is the clutch/gearbox disengaged? is the flywheel still intact? It's a process of elimination.

Got my car sent to my mechanics. Problem solved. the mechanics said that the "crank angle sensor" was spoiled and need to be replaced. Was done and the car is running smoothly again now.
Just wanna explain a bit here.

I think most of the people here are not an expert in cars, or not an expert in an FTO. and i think that is what a forum is for. this forum, to me, is like a hospital to a patient, which when we have problems, we can get a solution or if not, a suggestion.
For example, i believe that everyone of us here know what is diabetes but what exactly is diabetes? how many types of diabetes are there? what are the mechanism behind this disease? what are the available treatments and managements and how do they work? I believe not everyone can answer this quesion, but a doctor can...
and since there are so many mechanics here, people would post up their problems before they send their car to their mechanics, isnt that fair?
Anyway i am not here to create argument, i just want to explain for myself and also for the "a lot of people" who oonzo were referring.
Thanks...
Have a good weekend mate
