Loss of Power

Hi all,
Driving twice today and I had virtually an entire loss of power. Driving normally the first time and shifted down to 2nd gear and car basically just idled despite me wanting quite the opposite, second time I had just left work cruising at 70 in 4th gear and same thing, I blipped the throttle a couple of times and could hear the pod filter and air rushing trough but no go. Then all normal again.
Any ideas, I'm guessing maybe fuel filter?

Sounds weird. I would think the fuel filter would be a more continous problem with general bad acceleration but sounds more like something is kicking in to cause that. Could be the pump? Or maybe an ignition problem? Would need more details.

Yeah I went out today and it didn't happen and I filled up last night. Having said that the light had only just come on and I have driven much close to dry than this before. Anyone know how the fuel pick up works?

There could be dirt down the bottom of the tank,
as the fuel gets lower, it starts to shake and the stuff gets picked up with fuel.
I had this commonwhore VP before the FTO, years ago now,
It had thrashed so much before me, you wouldnt believe,
I bought the thing for $2k,
When there was half a tank fuel left, it started to shutter as well, started to shake badly,
imagine the muddy stuff in the tank
I had to keep the tank full all the time,
I sold the shitbox for $4k though

I would check the fuel system, because we had a commonwhore come into work and had the same problem, they never had the fuel filter change for a couple of years and we pulled the injectors out and found them full of metal shavings, we don't no how they got there but that was the problem.
