do all models of FTO's come with traction control

i read somewhere that it was only the 1997 upgrade that came with traction control - is that right

I was under the belief that all FTO's had it

no, not all models come with TCL...

pre 97 it was an option, not seen on many cars...
after 97 i am pretty sure it became standard

similar story to pre 97 having momo wheel also

(my 96 model has both, and i must say i appreciate having the option to turn TCL on when wet etc)

tcl...
is it normal for tcl to turn on only when it is slippery? ie. the green light on the dash lights up when your turning and it is activated. normally, it wouldn't light up?
i mean, u said u appreciate that u have tcl to turn on, which does infer that this would mean u manually turn on tcl when it is wet to have it in cosntant use.

i rmbr aasking a question about tcl when i first joined this forum.

i cant find the link now, but im sure u can find it if u looked for it

tcl is actually switched on/rather its always engaged automatically (if u have tcl) and it automatically kicks in when it senses wheels spin etc etc.

when the car detects that, the green light turns on and the light will go once it sense the cars fine again.

so tcl is always on, altho not always active... hope i didnt lose anyone... i neva turn "off" my tcl (flicking the switch), unless i wanna have some fun...

understood. i did heard someone mention to me that TCL causes u to lose power?
like i understand in corners, it helps the wheels spin right therefore causes u to lose power, but would it affect any other part of driving? what about on other cars with tcl?

you can choose whether or not to have TCL on, when you start the ar it is default ON.

i just leave mine on and figure its prob best if it wants to save me to let it...

it works by sensing when a wheel is about to lose traction and reduces the power to that wheel... simple

when it kicks in a little green light comes on the dash to say "TCL" and you can feel it... when its turned off theres a little orange light that sats "TCL off"

or when your car dies that light also comes on

it does definatly reduce the power, until it senses that all the wheels are doing what they should...

which is why i stipulated 'in the wet'

in the dry its like an automatic process
sit in seat
start car
turn off traction control
go....

but in the wet, especially when im just driving to get from a to b, its a nice 'backup'
