im doing an engine swap soon..
just want to know what is there i shuold be careful of ?
shuold i push the car hard to test out if it will last or not ?
let the engine idel for hours or not ?
what should i do...
what sort of problem will come up later?
long term problems may come ?

i got an engine is almost ready to put in...(about 2days..)
i think its about 1993 mivec about 110000km done
it has not been started for more then 12 months
from the seller he said that its a direct import half cut

make sure she cranks over by hand and isnt seised

i had my 109km engine (blew) with one that had done 43k kms
things worht doing
-water pump
-main clutch bearing
-clutch
-timing belt

check your damned cam seals@!@!

It's just a gamble to be honest. I should know....

Replaced one engine, and 4000km's later, the second one packed it in (and not doing anything stupid either).

Check seals (or get them replaced while engine is out), km's if it is known (probably not), compression test, etc.

Could be fine - but like anything second hand, you just don't know what happened to it before!

The latest engine (that hurts to say that) seems really really strong though. Famous last words if ever i've heard them, but it has so much more torque it isn't funny. No need for MIVEC - it is so strong mid-range.

So, nothing specific. I would recommend taking it easy for a bit, do an oil change in about 1000km's, and then just hope like hell it's a good 'en.

dude, put oil directly into the cylinders by taking out the spark plugs then crank the engine manually for a few cycles!
