I'm planning to buy a car soon and an FTO is right up there. But i'm wondering..

Hows the fuel economy in one of these?

Is servicing expensive?

Are the back seats really cramped?

1. i get 10km/L in town

3. I wouldnt be buying an FTO as a family car Sayin that though, i did manage to fill up the seats with friends last night, cant say it was comfortable but we did it.

Great car for 2 ppl,but if u r looking for more room buy something low like a commondore.

1/ Depends how you drive it
I get 10-11km's per litre

2/ Depends where you take it and what you get done.... try and buy one thats already had the major service done.

3/- Back seat is ... not bad if the driver is tiny
Apart from that, I use it to put shopping in

Dont forget to look into insurance, depending on your age, DAWES are not bad, neither is Famous Classic Car Insurance.

What state are you in? You should go along to one of the meets and talk to people. They can give you the full shakedown and answer any questions

servicing depends where u take it exactly like any other car. back seats are pretty spacious for a 2 door car. its a lot more spacious than an s13 or s14 n u can actually fit 2 adults with a bit of a struggle.

On the highway you can get over 600km out of a tank of fuel, but if you have a heavy foot it will chew that fuel down, and servicing is cheap if you do it yourself.

I have another question, what insurance costs would be for a 19year old for either a GPX or GR and what companies out there will do it.

I am 19. unique insurance quoted my $1600 a year! or there is also jsut car insurance which is around the same! unique has lower excess though! there's is only half of what just cars is!

Damn... i should have gone with unique insurance... i have to agree with the excess from just cars... thats just a bit waaay too high haha

As for the interior spacing... i guess you can fit 1 more person in the back but not for any long trips. Depending on the driver's size, you might be able to fit another person behind the driver's seat but again not for any long trips.

yeah unique car insurance is good. i got 1100 a year at 21 - rating 2

I'm paying $700 at Unique for a GPX, but I'm an old mofo at 25, with Rating 1. That said, Just Cars quoted me $1600 - what a freakin' rip!

WOW that's a good price, what is your excess then?

Just Cars quoted me $1018 and I'm 31. I had a 95' Fairmont Ghia before my FTO so full comp was always under $400 for me. I got all tight-assed when looking for FTO insurance and decided to go Third Party for under $400 with RACV hehe.

That being said last weekend I hit a guy in my blind spot while changing lanes! All my fault, $1000 excess and some nice dints and scratches in my new FTO which won't be fixed till I can afford it.

I wish my R33 got the mileage my FTO does.

For my FTO GR is insured through Just Cars. Comprehensive insurance is $2480 premium, with an access of $1850.
3rd Party is $575 with access of $1500.

I could only find either Just Cars or NRMA insured my car, with NRMA quoting me $8500 a year... so Just Cars it was.
