Hi Guys and Gals,

I was bored and a few other discussions got me thinking about making a heat shield for my existing cover on by POD. Remember this is only been wacked together in 30min with a stapler ONLY so don't laugh.

Doesn't look pretty at this stage, but my plan is to make a complete shroud cover the fits over the existing UAS cover..or in fact might replace it. What is shown pulls straight off as required.

I drove around abit today and when I stopped for lunch I decided to see how much it was working but sticking my hand into the boxed area...remember I had stopped and there is no airflow...to my suprise it was much cooler than the engine bay and the part closest to the engine bay...so it must do something..looks funny though!!

here ya go. look out for the new product for those with the UAS kit....

yeah sorry...credit goes to FTO388...as I basically copied it but I think I used a bit more of the stuff...

the front/top has about 2-3 layers as I was playing around trying to get the shape right and look not so crappy..

What sort of heat shield is that?

Where from and how much?

after showing my mates from work we have come up with a few suggestions...I will replace the entire cover with a thick heat resistant plastic and cover the engine facing side with some of that stuff to help more. See how I go with it....Shue has the man I need I think....

when we built the original i put heat shielding material throughout the inside of it to improve it...

yes it does look intrsting...I call it the "luna cover" although it looks spastic it def. works well with the amount I have put on...I'm gonna get a temp sensor(s) with a long cable for my multimeter and start to measure temps to see the difference now...and then later with the new box..just for fun.

hey i think max when a step further and made a temp gauge thingo. there was diy somewhere. same sunscreen for the box and 2 sensors to measure inside airbox temp and outside.

I think ABS plastic would be your best bet if you can find it. Apparently this plastic is designed to absorb heat on one side and keep the other side a hell of a lot cooler.

I'm not really sure about those windscreen 'thingys' coz aren't they just designed to reflect sunlight away from the car? Or do they reflect heat as well?

But the ABS stuff might be the go...I've found this setup to work well...and so far havn't had the same energy to make it even better...wait a few weeks.
