LED Wiring

Hi all just a quick and simple question I hope. If I have 4 Leds lets say 3 volts each and I wire them up in series without a resistor each LED would see 3 volts when powered from 12, is that correct?

yep, theyd all glow at the same brightness

That doesn't sound right.
Maybe it is but, I never paid attention in Physics.

Actually it is right, probably explains why I only got 68 in my HSC physics exam

Yes, that theory is correct
Total voltage in a series circuit is equal to the some of the individual voltage drops: ETotal = E1 + E2 + . . . En

But remember your car runs a little higher than 12V
