Raise the Bar

If you want a good one, youre going to have to raise the bar some, especially as you are after a manual. For about 15 you have a much better chance of finding something that is in reasonable condition and hasnt been hammered (too much  )

Have a look on the following:

http://www.tradingpost.com.au
http://www.drive.com.au
http://www.autoweb.com.au

and in the 'cars for sale' section of the forum

you are wrong, check out these links:

Checked them out, in reasonably good condition and all will sell at $10k - 11k. But just not the colour i wanted.

So these are an good example of the manual fto gpx market price. They have dropped heaps. $11k is a reality to stay.

um... show me where it says 11k?

i think your best bet would be to move to NZ, then youd pick up a 5 speed mivec for about 8k with 100k ks on it

What makes you think that?

KM

Well, if your not worried about KM......... When I say good condition, I was referring to something with around 100 on it. Im not saying that 130+ (the lowest in your list) is bad, but the more KM, the more likely you are to have to replace things like exhaust, Suspension etc.

I have a friend at work, his name is Jeff,
Sharing the same dream as you, to score a good quality FTO for around $11k

I am giving this example not to upset you, but just to let you know that he is still looking and still dreaming.

For $11k, especially if you are planning to buy a GPX or GPvR, unfortunately you will end up with serious mechanical or chassis questions that needs to be answered.

However, it is not impossible, you might reach your dream if you really believe in it.

Who knows you might find a seller, who has busted the girlfriend in his FTO shagging with the best mate on the driver seat, on the brand new leatherette covers.

As a result he might desperately wants to sell the car for $11k peanuts, and you might be the lucky one.

Its very common for seller to drop $1-2k from their asking price. Especially these have been advertised for weeks and months.

Good Luck

Hope you get a good one. Knowing what to look for is the important thing. Have a trawl through the site. Quite a few people have asked the same question as you in the past. As long as you can tell the good from the bad, there wont be an issue. You may end up looking for a while and then if your lucky, you may not.

The buying guides on the url below are now up again. They may help a little

Unfortunately mivecboy is right, the price of FTOs is plummeting and hardly anyone wants to touch imports, especially 10 yr old ones.

I was offered $3K for my FTO as a trade-in the other day 8O

Even the car dealers bible has the price of FTOs down:
