Fitting a pod filter

Hi guys,
just a few questions.Tomorrow i'm buying a k&n air filter for my car and fitting it to the stock pipe.Has anyone encountered any issues with doing this???Because when i looked at the filters the pipe is slightly bigger then the pods pipe.Also i've seen other with after market pipes and would like to get some prices on those and a whole set up.

I dont think it will work too well using the stock piping. plus you want to get rid of that awful bend (the narrowing then 90 deg. bend just before the TB) in the stock pipe to help take advantage of the power increase you are going to get.
if you live near a steel pipe warehouse kinda place (can be hard to find sometimes) you can get a sexy looking pipe to attach to your throttle body and attach your pod to
or you can get a UAS style one made of rubber/plasticy stuff or whatever, they come in colours and stuff and can be cool too.
i'm sure you will get many more replies that will tell you to do a search of the forums as there are many other topics on this.

Thanks mate,i will look at what they have.I was looking 4 a specific post relating to the pipe from the tb to the pod but couldn't find it.But thanks i will have a look at uas.But if anyone else knows of any other places,please let me know

Its piece of piss mate, if your gonna use they existing pipeing just get a 3 to 4 inch adapter from any exhaust shop, paint it up and unscrew the hoseclip on the airbox from your pipe stick the pod onto the adapter, and the adapter into the pipeing.
or if your gonna go the other way Unlike me (yet) and replace the pipeing then follow this masterful DIY by 21mrk

Check out this setup from FTO338...its cheap and very good (Kev wouldn't do anything that was sh*t)

You can also get a UAS one which I have...very good also..but way more expensive..

definetly get a new pipe!
this is a closeup of my connection to the tb and then a pic of the pipe i plan on welding on so that i can make an effective CAI.
Should look very nice when its all done!!
notice the second smaller K&N 'breather' filter that you will need to get too!

Is replaces the PCV line from the airpipe? Hmm I need one of those...although it might take longer for the engine to heat up there will be a slight gain in HP...nice1 thanks..
what size did you use 12mm or 9mm??

yep, on the stock pipe there is a little pipe that goes to the breather.
if you change the pipe you really should make other arrangements for the breather.
from memory it was 12mm that fitted over the nobby bit on the engine end and the pod fitted perfectly over that.

When I got my FTO, it had a K&N on the stock pipe with just a metal screw clamp (not sure of name) and it didn't fit properly and would come off in your hand, it was crap. I went for the UAS option, much much better.

ta...i'm on my way to get one...I noticed in the above thread there was some confusion regarding why you need this filter or the std pipe from the airbox..
Its all to do with the PCV valve...you will notice if you leave this pipe off you may find some oil splattered on you airpipe...I did!..anyway if you need more info in PCVs use google...

Hi Guys,
Here are some pics of my UAS CAI. I highly recommened this one...actually I will have the breather filter on soon also!
Like FTO388 I also have another flex pipe fed from from front lip into the next "boxed" area to get better air flow and an cheap and easy way! If you get the UAS Kit you get all of the bits (including the flex pipe).
