Does anyone know how to remove the standard skirts off a GPX?

Not sure whether other people have had issues...
When I had mine touched up, the body panel place said there was an issue with removing the skirts. They said that removing them (due to them being glued on and there for 10 years) ran the risk of snapping or damaging the skirt..... Not an issue if you dont want to ever use them again or sell, but it was for me, so mine were left on when painted....
