Just have a couple of questions:

Do lowering springs always result in a harder ride?

Coilovers - Does the ride height operate independently of the shock hardness?

Which coilovers are the better value. Surely someone out there has some opinion on this!!!

Any answers would be great. Trying to work out whether to try and resurrect my Bilsteins or try something new.

This is the only one I can answer with confidence:
Depends on the spring. You can get a lowered spring that has the same spring rate as the original. Springs are a very universal thing - you could get a spring half an inch high with the same spring rate as a stock FTO spring. Most of the aftermarket ones out there are a bit stiffer - like Apex or King springs. I went with Apex & they are a bit stiffer but not too uncomforatable.... as I drive the car everyday I didn't want spine crushers

As for coilovers I cant tell you. Plenty of folks here with them that could tell you more

I just cant justify spending 2k on something that only comes into its own on the track. Especially when I've spent 2k on the other things like swaybars & bushes to make it handle better in general.
