fto 100km service?

(note: I did search first for this topic first as I suspected this would be a common question, but couldn't find anything relevant to question. Thanks)
I am almost up to the 100,000km mark for fto (95,000 at moment) and I was wondering what was a reasonable price to have the major service done?
Unique Auto Sports is charging $1500 for their major service. Does this seem reasonable? They seem reputable. No where around this area (hawkesbury) seems to want to touch the car.

Ive had it done twice (2 different FTO's). Both have cost me between $800 to $900 and that was without knowing the alternative part numbers for timing belts etc. Also, that is Canberra.

what do mean by major service? rebuild etc?
id get the belts and plugs changed for sure... anything more than that would be pointless if theres nothing wrong with it at the mo (famous last words) ive done 160 thou and only had to change the air con motor... id wait another 50 thou ks before thinking of a rebuild, these engines will do 300 000ks pretty trouble free

I think star lancer is just referring to the standard 10000km log book service (called a major service) as distinct from the 90000km service for example which is known as a minor service because it just involves oil change. But could be wrong.......

Yes I am referring to the 100,000km service.
This what unique auto sports $1500 major service involves. Do I really need all of it? They say too that if certain things arnt needed they'll remove it from price.

note the point in the UAS service - if water pump required - extra $510 just for the pump PLUS extra labour - taking your major service up over $2K....... from memory - you can get water pumps cheaper than that - Ben/Kev - help me out here - having a vague day as can't remember where.
Also - UAS have moved - they are no longer in Castle Hill - the old shop burned down (well the shop above burned and wrecked their service centre)
Also there are these little plastic spacers things (love my technical terms)- they will often have disintegrated in your engine and end up looking like sand in your oil pan - UAS generally get the genuine ones but there is a place in QLD that sells them a lot cheaper - saves you like $10 per spacer - which could save you another coupl'a'hundred.
Not saying I don't love UAS to bits - they've looked after our FTO's brilliantly - but they're not cheap - but the job will be done properly.
Your major service price can also be influenced by the types of oils - the better the oil - up goes the price again.
If you go with UAS - give John your budget and he'll work in with you.
We've spent a lot (and I mean a lot) of time and money with them - but we trust them and they have fixed absolutely everything on both the daily driver and the race car and we've not had amy problems.
Cheers

1st FTO we had to take in for a major cost about $800.
When the 2nd came in, got genuine timing belt, OEM equivalent waterpump, and all belts for under $700, parts and labour. All seals were checked and not required to be replaced, same with sparkies. Probably would have been $6XX if I didn't use a Mitsi belt.
Both were done at two, ordinary down the road mechanics (ie they weren't performance workshops, import specialists, etc).. Obviously if you need more things to be replaced it's going to add to cost but I generally would expect to see change for $1k.

Damn that's cheap, considering the timing belt and the sparkies alone cost about $200-$300 bucks.
Normally just to get the timing belt change it'll cost about $500-$600.
Are you sure everything was changed or just checked and they only change the oil and oil filter. Coz to me $330 is really really really cheap.

Yeah everything was changed and i know that because i was there when it was done.
it was cheap because mitsubishi paid for my sparkies & timing belt i didnt have to pay anything they classified it under warrenty in which the car was. So in the end i'm happy.
And you are right it is really really really cheap.

How about you go back there and tell them the sparkies and timing belt are shot and get a new set. I'll bring my car in so they can put the stuff in my car

$510.00 for water pump + labour is a bit excessive isnt it??? The water pump would be easy as to get to with the belt off, so really im guessing less than a half hour job?? The pump itself is only about 100 bucks.

I got my 100km service at approx 95,000km's and I've just had 2 belts sh*t themselves. Service was done at Envey Imports, not sure if they were 'meant' to change/check these. Will investigate and get back to you. I'm on about 106xxx now btw.
