Interesting read!
I'm not sure on this one, i think i'll stay away from it to see what the feedback on it is like. 100 ron sounds great but the 5% ethanol blend puts me off as does the fact that it's optimax.

Interesting....
The Mobil right near my house has now also put out a 98RON series of fuel. Apparently based on the Synergy series or some such hoohah.

Well I’m surrounded by 3 BP stations & the closest Shell had change to Liberty.
I'm sure the rest will follow soon just like when Optimax first came out.
Anyway i agreed with Ethan, i wait for the feed back & see if it do the same damage as the regular Optimax.

I thought the FTO was designed to run on 100 octane like most jap imports? although I reliased 98 is generally the highest we can get. For anyone that has used less than 98...does the car ping? I assume it would

Yup - pings like a b*tch. We had a shortage of Premo in Syd a few months back - had to put regular in it *shudders* sounded awful under load at low revs.

Yeah there was a shortage in Melb too, & my car was re-tuned to run on 98ron, so no regular for me, in fact all my cars been running 98ron since day one.
Lucky like i said before, there are 3 BP stations near my place, so i found one pump out of 3 stations had Ultimate. (Thank you god)
Anyway the FTO ECU will learn according to the grade of fuel, but its still not a good idea to run anything under 98ron.

Mobil has it as well ... if you don't live in the sticks

Well....no Adelaide as yet.
Will try it as soon as I can though. Can't see how it would hurt the car.

If the mixture is just to fool the ECU that it’s running on a higher RON then it can really hurt the car.
One reason why Optimax been widely criticized is that they change the mixture, & the way they mix it, it just make the fuel burn differently without using higher RON.

So what excately do u mean by pinging ??

When you accelerate you get this pinging sound from your engine, & your car is struggle to accelerate.
It kind of like a tappet noise, but sharper.

Pinging refers to the noise that is made by incorrect detonation inside the cylinders as of a result of incorrect mixtures of fuel/fuel types/oxygen.
I think....

Does it sound like a flapping noise ? Ive notice this noise ever since i got my extractors, Manifold, TB and FPR put in... Only hear it when i accelerate.
Also does the ECU get retunned to run on Australian fuel eg 95-98 octane as apart of the compliance ??

No, pinging sounds like metal hitting metal and making a "PING!" noise.
And as far as I know a retune is not part of the compliance process. Now that you've had all those wonderful toys installed you should have it all tuned up to run on a specific kind of petrol (ie BP Ultimate) so that you can maximise the performance of you car.

Hmmm its had to tell barfy, since you got few mods going, so it could the noise from one of them. The best thing to do is get a mechanic to test drive it.
And no, is not part of the compliance to re-tune your ECU.
Well when you install your e-manager, it should fix the problem if its pinging. You did get one in the end right? I can't remember

I havent bought one as yet still working on what one to get ...
But this noise pisses me off though ! I happens through the whole rev range, i might just be air flowing through as everything is bigger now and i got the pod boxed ....

Hmmmm;
Boxed filter + whooshiong noise on acceleration = your intake doing its' job
