does 1 way mean you cant turn sharp w/o some wheel scrubbing?

SG - diff technology explained in a nutshell.

1 way, 1.5 way and 2 way is referring to when the actual LSD is working (locking).

1 way - both wheels turn at the same rate on acceleration only
1.5 way - both wheels turn at the same rate on acceleration, 1 wheel forced to turn at least 1/2 the rate of the other wheel on decceleration.
2 way - both wheels turn at the same rate on acceleration and decceleration (basically almost a locked diff but not locked 100% of the time).

1 way will give you nice double line burn outs :)
2 wheels on acceleration means you've got excellent grip results. it's also a lot easier to straighten up when coming out of a corner as you just plant the foot and it does it automatically.

1.5 way will give a more balanced feel in the car by also allowing better turn in when approaching a corner, but this requires throttle control on entry. this would be for the more experienced 1 way driver looking for the next step up.

however 2 way is not so good for FWD cars as the car will be trying to straighten up whenever you turn the wheels. not a good thing. however 2 way lsd's for RWD cars is great for.... drift. this is the main reason why pro drifters love 2 way lsd's as they can lock and drift the rear wheels on decceleration and acceleration giving excellent braking drift and power slide results.

so... SG if you're talking about "wheel scrubbing", i'm assuming you mean wheel spin, and yes there will be wheel spin and understeer still if you have this 1 way LSD. However all isn't bad as once you start to feel even a little understeer, step on the throttle with wheels in the direction that you want to go, hold on, and watch the thing pull you out sweetly :) it's an excellent device if you're thinking about a nice street setup or looking for some track time.

end of rant.

ah.
rightio heh

by wheel scrubbing i meant if you turn really sharp on a car with a fully locked diff the inside wheel scrubs the ground to get around because the outside wheel is moving faster

well i can afford it at the moment, and im thinkin i'll need one in the future, but i still have stock suspension at the moment and that was numero ono. so uh,... still thinking
will have to see what they go for new

hey guys

Just a reminder that you also get the redline lightweight shock proof gear oil (rrp $135) and two bottles of friction modifier (rrp $22 each) with the lsd. www.redlineoil.com.au

In regards to the 'wheel scrubbing', and adding to what ahew has already said, youll find that if you throw around a car with a standard open diff you will get more 'wheel scrubbing' on the inside wheel as torque transfers to the wheel with the least traction on open differentials. Thats why cornering with an lsd is so much better, given that both wheels will be spinning at the same rate even if there is traction loss, ie. there will still be torque applied to the outside wheel.

Would this LSD fit a 95 GR. I had read a while back that a particular CUSCO LSD wont fit GR's. I cant see how this would be as the engine is pretty much the same from the underside, the Mivec heads being the major difference.

thats a good question...

i once heard that the driveshafts for GR's are a different length to GPX's so if thats the case there might be a problem but ill see if i can find out more information

Hey Simon,

I've given thought to changing my stock LSD. Would you be willing to negotiate on price?
