Hey guys, a while ago I said I would check out a backyard upholster. I did this on Monday. A guy who has been doing upholstering for 50years in richmond. Works a lot on porshce, jag, bmw etc...
ANyway I thought he might be a bit cheaper as he works from home... anyway i was wrong
i was quoted around $3000 and up for my car (depending on which hide) i chose..... I had no idea that the leather arrives at his place a the silhouette of a cow! legs n all...
nyway for those interested in the side door trims... his advice was .. don't touch them.. he said you can do them buuuuut they are pressed by machine and it is difficult to get the same look.
He also said to be wary of some of the ebay style 'leather kits' said the workmanship can often be very good but the leather is poor causing stretching or excessive tightening...
He was a lovely guy and very good reference point.
