I' asuming your gearbox is defunct.

Personally I'd go with a total rebuild. I know it's not cheap but you have the satisfaction of knowing that it's been rebuilt.

When buying a second hand box you could be getting a lemon. The only way to check really is to open it up completely, by that point (labour wise) you're better off just replacing all the bits.

The previous owner of my car went the second-hand box road and it's ended up costing me money because the box fell tit over toe.

Forget the Auto and drop a manual box in 8)
