Just smashed my FTO into a pole

Sucks. I'll put picks up later. Doing about 20 around a corner in first, changed to second, heard a pop, car spun, came off the accelerator, spun back the other way, jumped a gutter and ended up around a speed sign.

Damage to the front driver quarter panel. Deflated front tyre but no cuts in the sidewall or damage to the rim, I can't be certain but I believe it popped before any of this happened.

Side skirting is fibreglass, bent but no cracks or anything should be fine.

Front skirt which was already coming off is now coming off a bit more :P

Rear driver side rim is buggered, tyre is still intact. Also the camber is wildly out on the side that impacted the gutter. So something back there is buggered too.

f**king f**k f**k f**k.

It was wet out, i'd already had the rear slide going around a roundabout earlier so following that I was being very careful. No idea how this happened. Was driving well under the speed limit.

Of interesting note, I have silverstone rear tyres.

Front's were f**king expensive goodyear eagle f1.

So yeah, i'll put picks up later but I really need you guys help right now. I'm fine, but i'm sorta in shock. I'll be crying soon that's for sure.

Car has just been towed out to a holding yard, so I need a good NSW smash repairer to take it too.

What I also need is a used front driver quarter panel and two 17" rims + tyres.

Your help is much appreciated.

Are you insured??? I know a couple of really good smash repairers but it depends on where u are. Something must have let go for the accident to happen that way.

Its good to hear you're ok - a car can be fixed..

I feel so sh*t. The thing that most aggrivates me is I have mates that drive like total morons constantly, and I try to set an example as a P plater by driving within the conditions and within my limits at all times. None of them have ever had an accident severe enough to warrent a tow truck visit. This is absolute bullshit, if i had been doing something stupid then fair enough I'd deserve it, but I wasn't. And it only rubs salt in the wounds when the towie gets there and accuses you of hooning at rediculous speeds and jokes about needing to slip him an extra 50 so that he won't ring the cops.

I'll get the pics up in about 30minutes.

I really really need the names of some good (read: great) smash repairers around the sydney parramatta / ryde / merrylands region. Thanks for all the support so far.

I'm also after (like I stated before) two used 17" rims with tyres. A used driver side front quarter as well. I'll check out ebay soon too.

Again, thanks a lot.

edit: about insurance, i've only got compulsory third party, plus third party property fire and theft. either way i'd still be very much out of pocket. the cost of comprehensive for me, plus the excess i'd have to pay after this, would probably amount to more then the cost of this accident.

terrible news that. You Probably copped some oil on the road or something like that. I have had something similar happen to me in Canberra (although not in the FTO). I was lucky, the gutter I climbed was a 45 degree one and I ended up on traffic island between some trees. I wasnt going fast either. Oil is the only thing I can think of that can do something like that.

You should grab this....

man that sucks. same thing happened to me when i had the s13 but i wasnt as lucky as u . got out of my place , turned onto the main road, spun a few times , smashed a pole and into my neighbours wall. the back part of the car was smashed, the diff broken and the back tyre snapped and was lying in the middle of the road. the car was a write off, no insurance , repairs to cost more than a new car. sold it as a half cut for 2 grand over the silvia forums and paid the 2 k to repair my neighbours house  so yea i lost 11 k in that accident. now i drive slower than a pensioner when it rains . hope that makes u feel better and oh yea the f@#$in tow truck guy charged me 400$ to get the wreck out of the house

Yep already bid on that! Thanks a lot for pointing her out (someone mentioned it early on). Doesn't look like anyone else is interested so in 10hours I might be the proud owner of a used (white!) RH front quarter. There looks to be a fair bit of rust around the edges, but I really just need to get the car back on the road as soon as possible, as cheap as possible.

Again thanks for all the support so far. I'm after a set of stock rims + tyres if anyone can help me out. And i'm invisioning that i'm going to need a set of rear pillowmount suspension.

If anyone knows fto12345 please let him know that I need him to contact me on 0433159354 ASAP in regards to his set of stock rims/tyres.

Danny Pearce : 0419 990 076

forget the name of the place but its in lane cove, its a small place but danny is very good at what he does. He works alone which is good as youl know that your car is worked on by him only.

I notice u had silverstone tyres on, ive had a few scary moments on those tyres. 8O

scarecrow,

your car may of been really unballanced tyre wise...

compare goodyear f1's(very grippy) to silverstoneftz's(no grip) this really leads to a more lively rear end.

i had a yokohama s306's(not as grippy as f1's) on fronts and silverstones on rears, went around a patchy wet road(corner) at about 50 lost the back end and started doing fishy's, and nearly hit a light pole.

My setup now is gIII's on the front and st-115's on the rear, never had a scary moment since.

looking at those photos i must say OUCH! but back to Jono, i'm using G3 too but have you ever had problems with cornering? i found that G3 have alright grib but in wet is not as good as i expect and i god damn spin my back out one time doing a fast corner!
