Has anyone here used Dynamat Extreme or Stinger Roadkill?

just finding my car has too much road noise and i want to use it on the floors and doors.

And yes! its supposed to be light weight Boris!!!

Ive been thinking about this as well. Any advice on this one would be great.

I think Josh (eftooh) & Mil (ftoluv) had use with Dynamat, i could be wrong, so don't quote me on it.

I've bought the dynamat extreme bulk pack (contains 9 sheets), which was enough to do the front door panels, rear door panels and behind the panel surrounding the rear quarter window, under and behind the rear seats.

It has definitely made a big difference, if you just want to remove road noise sound proof the floor plan.

The dynamat extreme boot kit (contains 5 sheets), is enough to do the side walls of the boot only.

what should i be using for the floors? Dynaliner or extreme?

Yeah I get a lot of road noise too. And a lot of random rattles/vibrations.

Can't afford soundproofing though.

My advice would be go bullk. Get as much as you can for as little as you can. All soundproofing pretty much performs the same so don't think you have to pay $180 for a name brand door kit.

Dynamats extreme weighs 50% less and also has inlsuating properties against high tempreatures.. if u notice in summer, it gets pretty hot in the FTO after driving it for 40 mins.

If it's lighter then regular proofing then odds are it's less efficient (resulting from it being less dense).

The fact that you said it has insulating properties almost scares me Most heat is generated inside the car because sunshine heats up, and reflects off, the internal surfaces after entering through the windows, insulating the outer shell isn't going to keep your car any cooler.

This is just my opinion after all, but i'd go for something else

I highly suggest you do read it. What it shows is that Dynamat eXtreme costs 4 times and weighs as much as twice as its competitors.

The cheapest (also the least heaviest) of the bunch withstood temperatures up to 100degrees celsius! I don't know about you but I have never, ever, touched a part of my car other then the bonnet which has reached a temperature even approaching that of the boiling point of water. If it gets that hot your going to have other problems to worry about much more dire then your soundproofing coming off and making a mess of parts of the car which never see the light of day.

The aforementioned cheapest product also had the best adherence (not that it should be any of your concern, you'll never be dangling weights off your soundproofing).

The author keeps making note that his tests are far from perfect, and they are far from it. The most important test of all, a practical test of sound deadening performance, was not undertaken at any stage.

Thus confirming my opinion that brand and price really don't matter all that much. Don't get dynamat extreme, you dont even get the wankvalue of having a visible logo.

Yeah had a read of it, really good read. also read some other forum posts to see whether people were happy with their dynamat, Stingers, brownbread etc etc..

I wish the article tested how well the products worked.

i thought it was 50% less weight but still really efficient, but from these test weighed more? so more density i guess.

Dynamat does cost more which is the biggest turnoff...

quite a few people who used dynamat were still happy with the product after some time. Read some stories of some brown bread or some other deadener falling off, smelling, melting after a couple of summer months which is a bit scary.

anyway i just bought some dynamat extreme for the "safe" buy.

Well I personally used 2 old camping mats that I cut up and used that to sound proof the floor pan, not a brilliant solution but a lot cheaper than dynamat.

I also bought a couple of sheets of sound proofing called Deadmat from ebay and I really wished I hadn't it just doesn't stick to the car where as dynamat will stick everytime. You get what you pay for in my opinion and Dynamat extreme is really good stuff.

well, in terms of sound, you certainly get what you pay for. but by the same token, sound deaden absorbs the sound and suposedly turn it into heat, (the black stuff witht the silver aluminium backing) and also acts as a barrier. the heavier the material the better the sound deadening properties. i couldnt afford/justify dynamat to do my entire floor pan, wheel arches etc. so i used this stuff called flashtac. its not as thick/heavy as the stuff mil uses, therefore dosent sound deaden as well, but is lighter. i came to a compromise as i didnt want to add too much weight, but i didnt like road noise too much either.
