Hi guys, my handparke doesnt seem to be working.

I found out accidentally after parking the car; upped the handbrake, still in D and the car still moves!

Can it be adjusted or issit already busted?

Are there pads or linings to chg for the handbrakes?

Thanks!

The handbrake actuates the rear disc brakes via cables. If the handle feels loose with no tension behind it - chances are you've snapped a cable. If there is a little tension, it may just need adjusting. There 2 spots to adjust it - one it tightening the cable from the handbrake end - the other is at the rear discs. Not a hard job - also not a pricey job should you take it somewhere

Have a looksee at the handbrake itself - you may have to take the centre console out to get at it. Where the actual handbrake lever joins the car is where the cables attach. The cable are attached by a couple of brass nuts on a thread - you can just wind the nuts onto the thread a little further it will tighten it up a bit. If that doesn't work, you'll need to be pulling your rear wheels off & adjusting up there (much more dirty & annoying)

I've got the same problem. Pull out the coin/drink holder to see the nut he's talking about. I can't tighten mine from there though. Pain in the ass. UAS wanted 50bux and it isn't that important to me. On an incline it will just hold at maximum up crankage, with a full car however its a different story.

i took out e cup holder but could not tighten the nut...
i'm thinking it needs 2 spanners, one to hold down, the other to tighten, but i can onli see 1 nut which holds e cable not the other one?

Yeah, exactly what i was thinking but there isn't room to get two down there. Also make sure the handbrake is totally slackened off so you can do it. Need to stop the cable from rotating as you try and turn the damn thing.

Let me know how you go, i need to do the same thing.

Pull your centre console out to get at it folks - its only 6 screws...
Then you can grab hold of the back of the cable & stop it turning while doing up the nut.

Cheers benoz, had a go at it tonight before going to the movies. Could only find the two under the coin holder. I assumed cause it wasn't really joined on any further i'd be able to lift the back bit out. Didn't work. Umm, any idea on how many bits need to removed? I really can't take the inner plastic surround bit out (the one around the gear stick and stereo) because it shattered last time and is now held together by electrical tape :?
