FTO AUSTRALIA

Hey ppl was just wonderin if there is some sort of kit or sumtin that ya can get for ya speedo, tacho etc. what im lookin for is one with like a white or different coloured background and a speedo that goes up to a higher speed, can anyone help me out????

First off....modifying the actual speedometer requires more than just swapping the face of the dial....you have to do work to the speed senors or something?


Yes there are kits available (for pretty cheap too) that replace the dull look of the dials. Oddly enough I've got a zillion photos of the outside of my car but none of the inside....

I'm sure someone else can show you some photos.



And on a side note.....I'm pretty sure all current aftermarket dials involve cutting your stock dials out, an irreversable process.

I have the KMC white/blue gauge kit in my car - it looks like this:

This kit necessitated cutting out the factory dials, but was otherwise very easy to fit (apart from the extremly fiddly black light reducing stickers that went behind it).

However I don't believe that KMC make these any more, and that they have moved to a new style which requires some adjustment of the needle positions. They look very cool though!

thanks guys, yeh i no that if i put a speedo with a higher speed on it i would ave to do something to get it showing the real speed thats just common sense - but yeh ill check that site out.... also you say cutting th old ones out how do ya actually do it?? did u do it ya self??

Yep they're kits you fit yourself. They come with instructions - they're a bit vague but it's not difficult to do...

so where abouts would i go to get one of these kits...?? BTW i live in newcastle nsw

Well I got mine from the website in my post above - they're in the UK but deliver a lot of stuff downunder as well. Although having said that I had mine paid for and shipped to relatives living in England.

Not sure if you can get them anywhere else in Aus - probably...

they look good when i get an FTO i want to get something similar. can you change the colour of the needle?

Be carefull not to pick a dial set that requires you to remove the tacho needles. I ordered a set and that said no needle replacement required but when I got the dials the instructiosn said to remove the tacho needle as it needed to repositioned... now it doesn't work

DON'T remove the needles or you will pay the price for it..... a couple of hours fiddling around to get them right again and then the tacho needle may never come good.

That price being around $280 for my tacho to be sent to melbourne reconfigured and a new chip then sent back to perth.

Not to mention 3 weeks driving without a dash in my car.

Im thinking of picking up a set of these myself - says no removal of needles necessary. Going for 41 pounds with 2 pounds postage to Aust. Anyone had experience with them...

I've got a set of those dials in my car.....as does Boris and Paladin.

These v3 dials DO REQUIRE modifying the needle position of the tachometer. This is a very delicate thing and you need loooots of patience to get this done without screwing it up.

Once these dials are in you're stuck with them too as fitting them requires cutting out the stock faces.


All that said, they look damn hot!

I got these V3 dials too, but still haven't had time to put them on hehehe, i did rip out my EL dials already though, so half way there

Thats OK, got a couple of spare instrument clusters - can afford to stuff one up

The v3 dials are harder to install, it took me a couple of times to get the tacho working properly in its new position, and I still need to adjust those stupid black stickers, and drill a hole for the needle rest, and then put the cups on

So you have a naked dash at the moment?

How do you know what speed you are going?
Or are you so in tune with your FTO that you can tell how fast it is going just by the sound

These are the ones i have in mine, sorry no day shots but they are black with blue numbers.



And i had to remove the needles to fit them but luckily i have an Apexi RSM, sure helps you get the needles accurate again!!
