a few days ago i had my SAFCII removed (safely) and when i turned on the car it came up with the dreaded yellow engine warning light :o I had the wires check about 10 times to see if they had been return back to how they were but the light still comes on and hence i cant rev past 6k RPM.
I disconnected the battery for a few minutes but that didnt work. By resetting the ECU do i have to disconnected for at least 30 minutes or is there another way i can reset it?
From what i found from previous posts is that a sensor could also be faulty. what do u guys think?

Yeah unhook the battery for 30 mins to reset it dude. Have ya checked the error code yet?? Mite give ya a better idea of what the prob is. By the way, stupid question but you do let the engine warm up before trying to rev past 6K right??

hmmmmm this might sound stupid, but I hope this is not one of those "yellow warning lights" again as you should know what it is by now, & did you check just in case its the water fluid?

Is your engine warm up when you try to rev it pass 6k? You need at least 15mins of warm up before it will let you go through the Mivec range, even though the water temperature gauge indicated that it’s warm up after 5mins.

i have the list of errors from the FTO WA website but i dont understand how im suppose to read it from the ECU :?
do u know how to read it?

yes, i did let it warm up. I always warm my car up.

its the engine system warning light, not the fluid light.

i'll try disconnecting the battery for more than a few minutes but it would good if someone can tell me how to read the ECU codes. This is really pissing me off because im suppose to be selling my car not having problems like this with it :(

Ya just need to earth one of the pins, if ya got the webiste with the error codes the instructions should be on there as well, haven't done it myself but from what i hear it's a piece of piss

A long blink = 10 (add them up)
A short blink = 1 (once again add them up)

So if it goes, long - long - short - short = 22

To make sure you read from the right cycle, when the short dashes change to long dashes, the code/s is blinking from the start.

i would have thought a proper ecu reset would do... if you don't want to loose your radio settings just disconnect the sockets from the ecu :) this is what i tend to do otherwise i'd constantly be reprogramming my head unit.

still takes 30 minutes or so...

without an ecu reset it would be pretty hard to tell if any of the error codes are actually valid

If I want to reset my ecu, I disconnect the battery then step on the brake pedal (to use up the remaining power in the system) it doesn't take long... I leave it for about 5 minutes then come back...

Yeah its annoying but I rarely do it. And I really only program 4 or 5 channels.

i disconnected the battery for nearly an hour on the weekend but its still came with the warning signal. Now i gotta try grounding the pin and see what error code comes up.
I still dont understand how this could have happened but just removing the SAFC?? :?
