This is to the guys with Veilside spoilers...

When you use the boot latch release lever in the cabin.....are you able to then get out and easily open the boot once the catch is released? Same with the key.....can you just turn the key in the boot lock, pull it out and lift?

After my rear ending I've found that the only way to open my boot is to have the key in the lock, turn it, and then hold it in the turned position while I lift the boot.

This did not happen prior to the accident....:sadpanda:

Just asking 'cos it's going in for repairs soon and I want them to look at the boot latch, but the guy thinks it's just because the VS spoiler is heavy.

Bucket, even with my spoiler (Version R) the boot does still pop open from the hatch release, but it doesnt fling open or anythnig. it just opens enough and i lift it open.

The weight of the spoiler does impact on how the boot opens, but it should still pop open with the hatch release.

Yeah I'm aware of that.

What I'm saying is that the latch doesn't release all the way or something when the key is turned or the lever pulled. Whereas prior to accident I could just yoink the lever, hop out, lift boot lid.....all while the car is running.

Now if I want to open the boot, I have to stop the car, get out, put key in boot lock turn and lift then take the key out.

Just wondering if any of the other VS guys have this problem or if it's just screwed from that flaming idiot who hit me.

Sounds to me like the latch mechanism is out of alignment. Could be that the boot lid sits to one side slightly since the accident meaning that the latch can't move out of the way of the latch hook.

best bet would be to take it back to the repairer. Or if you feel really confident try to fix it yourself.

Let us know hw you go.

It's definately not the weight of the spoiler, yes the VS spoiler adds a lot of weight but no-where near that amount. Sounds like the mechanism is a little out.
