Ho guys, my black plastic trim above the door windows looks manky as hell. Is there an easy way of removing them, in order to spray paint them?

Or is this more trouble than it's worth?

Cheers

I was thinking about the same think last week.
Mine is in good condition, however, wouldnt mind it really black.
I was more like thinking to mask some areas and paint it while still on the car.
Otherwise too much hassle, some sort of strong glue up there, which is very hart to get rid off.

do you mean the windshield (if yours has one) or the actual trim?

I removed my black windshield a few weeks ago. UGLY job... its easy to get off, but your left with mass off old glue stuck to the trim. I had to use a scalpel and lots for turps to disolve it. Looks better off, but unfortunately I scratched the trim a little.

I was going to repsray mine (trim not the windshield), but was concerned that it might be rubber? and not sure how well rubber would take to paint...

might be worth asking a body shop if its paintable first?

if it is ok to paint - its an easy job, just mask around the area, cover the car with newspaper and spray away with a matt or gloss black. ( i did it on my windscreen wipers and the area surrounding and it made a huge difference)

it seems pretty damn solid. The paint i tried just seems to be cheap horrible stuff - tried it on other plastic and still not good.

The trim on my car has been removed from the drivers side but not the passengers.. it looks crap! Leave it on!! Well.. my one is just messy and cut up.. I was considering finding something to fill it with, just to clean it up a bit. Maybe some kind of rubber??

Tried a small patch today with the matt black paint, and definately going for gloss paint. The matt looked horrible against my black paintwork.

sigh - will get it right one day!
