Ok, don't know if this is normal but never noticed it before. Had the car serviced last week and today i noticed that oil was spitting out of the exhaust in specks when i first started the car.

Any ideas?

Ok, do you know what oil viscosity the mechanic put in there?

My thoughs could possibly be the oil being too thin, resulting in it seaping into the cylinder, and out your exhaust. hm..

I doubt that it is oil more likely it is moisture in your exhaust mixed with the carbon deposits in your exhaust.

If your engine was loosing oil into your exhaust it would take a lot for it to be able to reach the end at start up and the oil that was left in the exhaust after startup would make a lot of smoke and also you would smell it burning as the exhaust heated up

Yes I agree, It would be almost impossible for your engine to be spitting out so much unburnt oil that it found its way to the muffler without you noticing other obvious tell-tale signs.

On a morning when I first start my car and let it warm up you can see little beads of moisture condensing on the inside of the muffler. When I first drive off it burns off and you could almost confuse the resulting steam/smoke for oil being burnt but after a couple minutes its gone and only happens when the temp/humidity is right.

yes don't worry - it's only moisture/condensation inside your exhaust system.

OK sweet. I always use Mobil 1 5W50, thats all the car has had for its entire life, so it was just strange.

I'll keep my eye on it but it sounds like its just moisture!
