MIVEC not kicking in

This has probably been covered so many times...

My MIVEC isn't kicking in today? It has new oil in since less that 4000km ago and I warmed it up as usual and drove it for another 15 minutes before flooring it, and then the rev limiter kicks in at a bit over 6000rpm without MIVEC.
What could this be? It was working yesterday??

Though it was weird, yesterday I started the car, warmed it up, and when I got in the climate control panel and dials were all off (they were on once started). Switched off the car and it wouldn't start again. Ended up being a flat battery (filled it up with water and used a booster thing, and switched on fine).

What can this be? Would this come up on an error check??

One thing I've found with my MIVEC engine is that the redline changes in relation to temperature.

Meaning, I let the car sit for 10 minutes or so and then hop in and start to drive.......I still can't redline it.

But you're saying that you've warmed the car AND driven it before mashing the pedal....so not sure 'bout that. :?

If it does that one of your sensors is either broken or unlugged. The engine is kinda in limp mode i guess preventing you from red lining it. The rev limiter should be at 6500k...

Did you do the oil change yoru self or a mechanic did it? Go over everything in the engine bay very carefully and see if there are anythings unplugged, if you can't find what it. try doing an ecu fault code readout, you can access the tutorial from www.ftowa.com.

Hope that helps.

Ok MIVEC is now kicking in...
It was only for that 1 trip that it didn't kick in?

Could it be the engine was too hot? As I had air con on and it was 32 degrees here yesterday plus I have a "hot air intake" ;)

Redline was about 6300 or so I would say.

Not sure what it is ;)

PS. Any one of you guys have a silver/Grey FTO with red cailipers which is parked at UC right now??
I am parked a coupe of cars over :)

LOL!

I love it how I can get up and walk a few steps before I can see the car whenever I want.

There is a silver one which looks pretty stock besides some rims. No kit etc.

Has an evo 7 engine though :)
Race that! I'm planning to! Hope he just sits there spinning all the way into 4th while I make my slow getaway!

BTW what are you doing now? I haven't raced an FTO before and wouldn't mind seeing how I go against them
