Kick Plates - hard to find?

Ho guys.
Just wondered - how easy would it be to get a machine shop to make us up some kickplates for a group deal sort of thing?
The only kickplates i can find seem to be those EL light-up ones from UK, which are almost always out of stock, and pretty pricey. Surely wouldn't be too hard to get some made up from brushed alu. Maybe MITSUBISHI etched into top or something.....
Just throwing it around as an idea as I'm not engineering-ly minded at all! Anyone any thoughts?

On that topic, the glow pads in the FTO kick plates. Does anyone know how they actually work. From what I can see, a charge is just sent straight to the pad but what mechanism allows it to glow? And can this pad just "wear out"? I've pulled mine apart, tested the wiring and it's fine yet they just don't glow anymore. Does anyone know where to buy replacements? I have asked around a lot and no one seems to have even heard or seen them before, much less be able to source them.

If they are the ones from funky's id say that they are the luminescent ones. Basically once you put a bit of weight or push on the glow part they don't work anymore. I got the same problem with my FTO blanking plate (although that never worked

) and my CF rear panel. Not much you can do about it unfortunately

There was a guy on the UK FTO forum who sourced some of the EL material used in them.... and THINK used it to replace his. Might be worth a search!

Yeah there was a thread on it on FTOOC recently. It was really cheap too (around $5 a pad or so) it was on ebay.

Got this reply from them:
Unfortunately we do not have any products of this kind and also unable to
advise where you could get.
