Hi guys, i'm using 500deg project mu pads + DBA slotteds.
The bite is very good, did 10k km normal driving and dat reduced the pads by a third.
did a track day at sepang in msia and and that further reduced e pads by a third.

now has a third of pads left and the bite is still good, but what i noticed after the track day was a constant loud grinding noise whenever i hit e brakes hard. no so lound when i cruise to a stop gently

on visible inspection of e rotors, no uneven wear or deep scratches or cracks watsoever.

any ideas mates? :?:

Yes!

Embedded in those pads will most likely be some small metal pins. These are the wear indicators. Once you've got to those, the pad is due to come out and be replaced. They let you know by being very very noisy! :)

It's the same in Pagid pads. There is no external squeal clip. They use embedded metal bits in the pad material.

You will find that although the bite is still good, their ability to cope with high temperatures is compromised once they get that low. They could start to break up too, if you push them.

So it's time to shell out for some new ones mate! :)

oh really...

i was thinking the screechy worn out pins come out at a much later stage!

its really more of a grinding noise...like...nuts in a grinder kinda noise...

hmm...i'll take a closer look at the pads when there is light...

thanks rich! wink:

Hey wildfaye, just a side question, how are the Project Mu brake pads in terms of brake dust?

And are they noisy in general or not?

Thanks.
