Hi all,

I've read a lot on this site about how Redline oil is the stuff to have in gearboxes. However I understand there's several different types. Can anyone recommend a particular type for the FTO 5spd box (mine has an LSD too). I'd like to change it before my upcoming track day, since I have no idea what its Japanese history is.

Also I understand I'll need 2.3L to change it - is that correct?

My apologies if this has been covered before.

Thanks

i use castrol syntrax 75w 90

"Full synthetic SAE 75W/90, API GL5. manual transmission, transaxle and rear axle lubricant with outstanding extreme pressure, synchroniser and high temperature performance. For vehicles that combine gearbox and hypoid diffs, rear axles of light cars and secondary drive axles of 4WD vehicles." - From castrol website

quite good results.
i have a manual GPX + LSD

2,4 lts * $30 = $90
sounds payable for manuals, considering it needs to be change every 70.000 kms or something.

However,
8lts * $30 = $240,
and this has to be done every 15,000kms, plus the cost of flushing old oil. 8O
I dont think I can pay this for my tip box, considering there is no problems what so ever at the moment.
Soon, I have to do a complete flush, however, I think I will use the stuff from Mitsu. I remember they quoted me something like $160 for a complete gearbox oil flush.

flushing old oil is really easy..

1. disconnect one of the hoses from the radiator (they're at hte bottom)
2. start car
3. make sure youve aimed the hose right ;)
4. don't let car run for more than 60seconds or when oil stops coming out...
5. done presto takes like 5 minutes tops once you know what your doing
