hi guys, apprently my fto overheated and seized.
now im after another engine for it, would the mivecs be a straight fit?, would there have to be any modifications at all?. My current is a GR non mivec 150,000kms and to me it kinda is dissapointing. but if im gonna need a new engine i might as well chuck a mivec in there..

any of you guys know where the best place to start looking is?, i cant find any fto halfcuts around brisbane.

thanks

You could try Nihon down the coast they may be able to help. What were the circumstances behind the demise of your motor.

Nihon: 55320706

Didn't happen to purchase the car from Autofarce by any chance? :-)

Like Dan said, Rik at nihoncarparts.com.au should be able to source you something.........

How about chucking an EVO Lancer motor in?

Cheers

hi AwesomeAsian

sorry to hear
was it private sale or car yard

i had to do a engine transplant a couple of months back (GR too)

and look at the mivec, but it has a few extra sensor's which arn't on the GR

you could try just jap here in sydney at kirrawee i think that is where mine came from

Hi,

well, im not really sure why it happened, it was driving perfect i would of never ever saw it coming.
The closest explanation i could get was probably the hills i was climbing?
I was driving up and down really steep hills, they were almost vertical heh, and possibly drained my engine oil somehow?. cause when i checked the oil it was below halfway, iv only did an oil change a week before. i think its seized up only running on 2 cyl.

Iv thought about vr4s and evo engines but they seem to be way too much hassle.

i bought it privately,

thanks for the numbers guys,
now i gotta take out another loan cause theres no way im driving my hyundai excel around.

Any chance you can get it reconditioned?, i had an engine done once that had a cracked pistion, didn't take too long and the cost wasn't that bad, was a straight 6, but ran like a dream afterwards
