The unthinkable has happened. FTO is smashed up :(

I was doing a U-turn and a taxi rammed me from the back and i mounted the gutter and smashed into a wall... airbag went off... important thing is nobody got hurt...

i thought i didnt see anything coming, but all of a sudden there was a taxi in my rear-vision mirror just before i completed the u-turn... it all happened so quickly... but the thing is, i was doing a u-turn across a double line road divider... yeah i know i know... but everyone does it there... even the police that came did it as he came to take a report...

important thing is... insurance co. will not void my policy coz of the u-turn across double lines i hope? does anyone know this for sure?

cars smashed up pretty bad front and back.. im sure its gonna be a write-off

if someone is interested in the leather seats, and insurance dont cover it, i will be willing to do a swap + cash deal for a bargain price

if everything goes well i might look for a liberty before... through company novated lease scheme... wish me luck (or prayer) people...

for sale
- front cusco pillow-ball upper mounts (allows camber adjustments)
- passenger side fog light assembly
- redline manual transmission oil (light-weight)
- original downpipes if anyone wants em
- imperial red rear spoiler (ruchi you still want this? sorry about my laziness)
-forgot to add, front and rear original floor mats

i'll post these in parts for sale too

Never a good thing to see one of these magnificent vehicles go

My condolences to you, good thing you're ok though. Can always replace a vehicle but never a human life.

How bad is the damage.....maybe sell the parts of the FTO or even go track car.

damn g1 thats the 2nd one :P
Nah seriously glad to hear your ok, Im not sure about the legalites of u u turning, as far as i am aware you are able, unless there is a no u turn, but you should look up your rights asap and stick with a story to make sure the insurance company doesnt rawt you.
If they find you broke the law, good by insurance company.
As for selling off parts to your car, make sure the stuff isnt listed with the insurance company too.
That was really unlucky though, I hate the blindspots in our cars, makes it very difficult to drive in pourly lit areas too, but thats the price for have a damn sexy car I guess.

any ways dude, I got my eye on your uas pipes if your willing to sell :P Ill pay to do a swap with my stock ones

Insurance companies don't scratch policies in situations where a driver commits a traffic violation... that would be a crazy world. Probably a safer world, where people all drove in fear of being sent broke by a driver error, but...

Sorry to hear about the crash, G1. That's bloody awful. I've been a driver in one rear end collision (I was stationary turning right) and a passenger in another (back seat passenger!!), and it's a real horror story.

Get thee to a physio as soon as possible, to get your neck and back checked out. If they catch whiplash early, it's a mild inconvenience having a couple of physio sessions. If you ignore it, your neck or back will slowly go to hell in a handbasket, and will be slow and expensive to sort out. Of course, I chose option (b)...

Its in all policies, if its proved you were breaking the law, the policy is usually scratched, how ever this must be proven, so in most accedents where speed was the cause, its very difficult to prove it

thanks for the concern guys...

the assesor is going out today to look at the car, i didnt bother taking to a repairer since im 99% sure it will be a write off... luckily i spoke to the assessor myself and he seemed really cool... he was asking me "would you prefer it to be written off?" and i made sure that he does include the leather trim as part of the valuation and he was happy to do so and overall sounded very interested in what i had to say and did not try to turn his back on me... which i half expected... (so for those who had interest in the leather, its probably no go)

Famous Classic Car Ins. have been on the ball, and haven't wasted time at all and been very helpful with any questions I had. I made the claim yesterday and the inspector is going out today, thats pretty good turn around time in my books...

gav, have you ever seen a real life case where the policy was scratched due to traffic infringements (even for something like u-turn across double lines?) coz i know technically they can, if proven... but i get a feeling they wouldnt be that anal... unless ive been a bitch to them..

G1 I have only heard of cases, I mean they are a business, and if they can make money i thought they would, im not sure if it covers all traffic offences either, but it would be in your policy they should of sent you

rich: the chiro is pretty ugly by my standards,... considering its a guy!

gav: important thing is how will Famous treat my case... I'll keep you guys posted.

I've driven all of them, & i got to say the before is the best out by far, on both luxury & performance. hmmmm you are talking about the new before right?

Posted: Wed Dec 15, 2004 5:26 pm
by G1
no not the new GT, Im talking about the previous model, with twin turbo. i know there is a huge torque hole between the 2 turbos, but ecutek solves that problem.... in terms of luxury i think the bora and type s would edge out the before slightly... but for power definitely the before

yeah before looks like a great car, never driven one, but big fan :P
i dont think the vw bora turbos are anygood bit of a mums car
also the new integra type s I read good things on in the new wheels mag i think, aparently it has more power then preceders

how about the integra luxury?
it has a really nice leather interior and cool sunroof !

yeah the type s has all that plus 35kw more power... costs about 5g extra though... dunno if i will be able to afford it..
