yep its been slow here... i think its because of the "USE THE SEARCH" trend lately. you cant be stuffed replying to a repeated post... DON"T!.. no one wants to post cause EVERYTHING has been discussed over the years, knowing this you also expect that after a week you visit to find only 1 new post, so you think stuff it ill check back in a month, when you do there are 2 posts worth reading so you dont bother coming back at all... thats a drastic analysis i know but it works that way. just coz somethig has been talked about doesnt mean nothing new will be learnt, in time people learn new things and there for the same old topic just might be relevent to someone. For how long did people think they could chat about a car before they had covered everything!?
thats my thoughts on one of the the slow down reasons, cant think of something NEW to write about, don't want to post just in case it is NOT NEW, and there for get wholloped with the "USE THE SEARCH" brand. i agree that seeing two or more identical topics several posts apart is down right stupid, but somethings have not been talked about in a new light for a long time, so i say stuff the old post, bring on the new, with a wiser onlook, and new members who may bring something else to the table.
AHHH.... there is my 2 cents, it may be ignored, but hoepfully you will come here and flame the crap out of me, since a brawl is the only way to get life on these boreds lol

joking we dont need that kind of posting. now back to reality... see you all in a month

I know this post ironic & controversial, but during the past 2+ years (this is my 2nd user name for those who didn’t know) been participating in this forum. I had to admit Mikey had put up lots of interesting post, some dam hilarious (Gibberish Corner was created cause of all his hilarious posts), some are serious, just look at the example of “Newbie reveal yourselfâ€

I totally agree with you right there. ON face value, our UK equivalent ftooc.org don't seem to have this problem, yet I see the same topics/issues covered in multiple posts over there, without the same consequences or redicule as we do here.
I'm not saying what they're doing there is either right or wrong, but certainly more civil. But then again, they are a much bigger organisation that has been around longer than FTO Australia has, and has probably sufferred the maturation process we are going through now. (I realise they are also fees based).
I don't want to sound like I'm preaching but at the end of the day, it's not what you tell people, but the way you go about doing it.

i think we should have a look at the
www.alsc.aus.as australian lexus forums, they are very informative and allways something to talk baout here, i think we should take a leaf out of their book.
keeping in mind also that the members there are more mature, knowlegable and more actually provide input. here how ever you see maybe 3 replys to a post and 38723629374 views. and most of the time its the same few people. i know if you dont have something productive to say, then dont say it. but i know that there are quite a few people here who are very knowledgeable but keep rather quite. why?
dispite what people say about ruchi *gets ready for flaming* he activly brings information to the attention of ftoaustralia readers, eg LED dash lights headlight mod. i know that they were available on other sites, but he did bring them to our attention. for example, there was quite a few posts about people b!tching on about how crap their head lights were (my self included) NO ONE pointed out that mod until ruchi did it.
i guess like the previous posts said, ftoaustralia is still in its infancy.
</end rant>

Ok, I try to stay out of these sorts of things. Mainly because they usually work themselves out in the end. However, I really felt I had to post this. A number of members have put forward suggestions on how to make the club/forums better. This is a great leap forward - it give people a feeling of "ownership" of the club, like they belong to something and their suggestions are important. But lets just look at one such exercise. People wanted to be part of the process of deciding what different type of get togethers could be organised following the demise of the Christmas BBQ (through no fault of the club organisers and/or participants), great idea I thought! So AJ posted a poll to get some feedback. Well of all the registered members only 12 people voted with 138 looks. I dont get it

The option was there but very few took advantage, why? Personally I'm a bit of a sheep and will go along with most things but I did vote. By voting it doesnt mean you are committed to anything but I'm sure it makes the people at the top feel that their time isnt wasted. This post is not directed at any one person or group of people so dont flame me - just something I had to get off my chest.
Peace

Hey, this ain't quiet. if you want to see quiet, go check out our West Aussie forum! The silence is deafening.
Unless something really unusual goes pop on a Perth FTO, there isn't much being posted. It's kind of a "no news is good news" approach!
That and the fact that we have a standing policy to drop all our incendiary munitions on the FTO Australia board. lol.

I guess, another reason for this lull is that we haven't heard much from Steve regarding his projects and other things like that. And also the endless arguments ofcourse.

you dont know how proud i am that my somewhat risky post has been discussed so maturely. great to see that no one thought i was pointing fingers either, coz i wasnt. i joined here several months ago because i had seen the FTO many years ago in a magazine and fell in love with the car, never actually thinking i would one day own one. being a member of a club that feels the same as i do about a chunk of japanese steel and mechinary gives me a sense of pride and belonging to an elite group.
oh and Teania... great post, written with pride, belief and humility, you are without a doubt a great choice to be one of those that lead our army.
the fact that steve hasnt been around has an effect, the soldiers love seeing and hearing from their general, no question about that, and i am just another that would love to see his posts more. But we all have to have a little understanding that this is not his fulltime job, steve like all of us have busy lives, especially this time of year, in a couple months, steve will have a lapse in his work load and will be on the forums more often and then his absence will be totally forgotten. its how these things seem to work in the world.
on an end note, i am one of those guilty of not posting a lot on some topics, simply coz i dont have mechanical knowledge, im pretty pathetic with that type thing and never really cared about cars untill i bought one i actually cared about. so im to busy learning from steve, and dannyboy and ruchi and so on. also i think its obviouse that i tend to write long posts lol maybe its because my fingers itch to participate on something that i just cant stop writting when i get the chance

... having said that ill stop, but i have no doubt things will liven up again its just a dip in the graph thats all.

hey guys,
firstly i'd like to make an apology for my lack of activity, the reasons behind it are all real life work related... not an excuse just a statement of fact... since october i've been averaging close to 65 hours per week, and coming here just hasn't been much of an option...
the UNIQUE FTO projects will be coming back online next year... the CAMS for my car are not going to be worked on until mid / late january so all engine projects are on hold until these are completed as i only want to crack it open once...
other stuff is kind of on hold as well due to it being so close to christmas and people unlikely to want to spend money on group buys when they have to buy christmas presents... i expect to start the group buys up again late february when people have money again (there's no point in advertising a group buy if no one can afford it)...
One of the things i was hoping is that as we have created such a great committee of state coordinators this place would continue to run with my absence it appears that is not the case, so i'm making an effort to come here everyday and see what's going on...
We have some major news i'll be announcing in the next 24 hours so make sure you look at the homepage.!.!.!.!.
NOTE NOW speaking as stephen NOT as the National President
i do get upset to see the bickering that goes on here, people bring up old flame wars and comments from 6months or longer, i recently had someone revisit something from February this year... it really disappoints me to see this sort of thing.
My step mother is like an elephant she'll randomly bring stuff up from 10 years ago, and carry on like an old woman about it, like it was yesterday. I really hate members doing this. someone once said: "can't we all just get along?"
well can't we??? this problem with the past being brought back as justification for current actions and conduct seriously sh*ts me, to the point where i'm considering turning on automatic pruning of anything over 6 months so it can't be brought back.
I strongly believe i have created a very strong committee and foundation for this club, it has taken longer than i wanted it to take (part of that my fault)... I also acknowledge that of late the committee hasn't been as active at communicating what is going on in the background - definately my fault...
At the same time the lack of interest in becoming part of our first Working group has disappointed me as well... this place is what you make it there are chances for you to get involved, if you don't get involved then you can't complain if things don't happen the way you like or things aren't done that you would like to be done... I believe strongly that each and everyone of us controls our own destiny our own luck, don't let other's dictate to you what should or shouldn't happen, get involved and help the club help you.
we are here to serve you guys at the end of the day this isn't about power, this is about creating something that everyone WANTS to belong to, that brings in outsiders and encourages them to own an FTO, a Club that other clubs look up to and say "we want to be like that!".
anyway i think i've rambled on enough now. i'll go put my offical hat back on and do something
