i know some of you guys have painted your engine covers, i'd like to know what paint you use. i went to bunnings and all the higher temperture paints require baking of some sort, im planning on tinkering with my intake pipe and need to paint it, any recomendations? cos i dont think i should be baking plastic!...

Last time I did it, I just use the high temperature spray available in Repco (1500c), I don't think Bunning have all the range. I clean the engine cover with pure alcohol first, & then use a very fine sand paper to sand back the semi-glossy plastic surface, so the paint will stick.
Spray very thin layer at a time, so you won't get lumps & bums or even air pocket, if you do, just sand it back with the fine sand paper.
Took me half a day as I wait for each layer to settle first, i think it was 6 layer all up.

I used the cans from supercheap, that are about ~$9 each. It took me the whole can.
Like Kevin said, do a small spray at a time. Then I used model paint to do the letters. My cover is dark blue mettalic cover, with Red Mitsubishi text and gold lettering on the rest of the letters.
Have fun!
