The saga continues (help!) :)

Ok so after my unfortunete encounter with a puddle I have had the engine replaced for no less then $3300. Now I was hoping Id get it back and that would be the end but no alas its still has issues.

First of all its making a high pitched sound that is in sync with the revs. The more gas you give it the higher the pitch, anyone know what that could be. Im guess one of the wheels the belts are on is making it but I dont know.

Second my temperature is a lot lower since the new engine has been installed sitting on about 1 quater instead of 1 third like it was before. Is this a problem?

Third my front swaybar just snapped. No joke I couldnt believe it but its snapped clean at one of the bends. Is this drivable like this as the person who has offered to have a look is down the coast?

Last but not least my new engine seems to be ok. Its not as pretty as my last one with a few discolourations on the steel bits (is this cleanable, paintable?) but ity seems a little perkier then before. Then again this might be because Ive been driving a echo since its been in the garage.

Thanks in advance guys.........

What kind of high pitch noise is it? is it like a screechy, or like a "wiss" sound noise.

wiss I guess......like the sound of a screw driver being held against one of the belt wheels. so ok to drive without a swaybar?

the sound you are getting is from your power steering. as that sits next to the firewall it wasnt replaced with the engine. Power steering noise is a pain . Just get it replaced., And the reason why your second engine looks dirty and discoloured is the fact that it has been sitting out in the open for too long at the wreckers, YOu can only clean abit but "IT WONT" make a difference. Best thing to do is degrease engine bay. and take off rocker covers and Mivec cover and paint them all including Plenumb Chamber.

Paint everything silver except the Mivec cover. maket that a nice Red.

Enjoy and dont stress.

Oh with your Temp Needle sitting lower that is much better. Your sensor and gauge sensor is working fine. So dont worry. The fan wont have to kick in as much. Some cars sat just below half as in 1/3 of the way and others on 1/4. Better for summer.

awesome thanks for the reply minh. Ive been sitting here refreshing the page waiting on a responce was getting frustrated.

You seem pretty confident that it was the power steering, why is that? Makes sence though as I just had a talk to the mechanic and he said that the power steering was replaced. So I guess the new one is stuffed. My engine is still sitting in his workshop so I wonder if I should try and swap it now as its going back soon as part of the exchange deal I got.

As for the engine cleanup, thanks for the tips......Its not to bad except for the silver (well should be silver) pipes coming out the back on top of the motor. Any reccomendation on what paint to use on those babies?? Brush or spray?

Once again thanks!

Anytime Foe. We are here to help. and yes this section is a bit quiet hahaha.

As you mention the whine gets louder and quicker with revs. definately a power steering problem. Im confident because I seen it happen. My brother in laws Supra is having the problem right now. Kinda sounds like a Super Charger hahaha.
Yeah put your old one back on if it was fine.

With the paint dont do it yourself or it will end up looking cheap. If you can live without your car a day or two. Take it to a panel beaters. They will use nice 2pak paint that is heat resistant. It will come up so nice.. Trust me. I dont it on mine and the red Mivec cover looked like a Type R or R34 GTR. Sweet.

Well took it in to the mechanic and its the damn aircon. I saw it with my own eyes. Cant believe my luck lately.

So the pulley on the aircon compressor is seizing up? on its way out?
You can get the compressor reconditioned cheap. Go to an aircon place. Either that or buy one from a wrecker.

My brothers workshop has one for sale. if you are interested. $250 from a low km engine.

FInd out how much if it is to recon. If cheaper then do that instead. IF not then let me know.

Can I make a suggestion? Foe since the engine was out and in again. more than likely they didnt regas/reoil your aircon system or they regassed it only. To do a aircon system correctly the system has to be regassed and reoiled with special aircon oil. Maybe they dont have any oil in there now thats why the pulley is starting to seize so get it checked out asap as you might be able to save the compressor

Ive rung around and they all say front bearing is the problem. There a little hesitant in being able to source one.

Dont suppose you'd sell just the front bearing?? Ive been getting estimates of around $70. But I realise that the compressor is worthless without it so I guess its a bit to ask.
