Hi there guys/girls,
I just signed up, i am looking for an FTO GPX on behalf of my Girlfriend, just wanted to say hi and get aquanited with the forum. I currently drive a Toyota Starlet GT, but i really like the FTO's and am parsing on my dreams to my GF.
I am wondering does anyone know what the average percantage of FTO's have sunroofs (probability of finding one) and also what the KW's ATW is for these. As Far as im aware they are 150kw at the fly correct?

welcome to the club
sunroof equipped FTO's are very rare, prob 1 in 15 if not more...
depending on the condition of the motor, hp atw for the GPX should vary between mid 90kw to low 100kw...

100KW atw? are you kidding me???? thats like a GS
GPX are 146.9 ATE last i checked... and starlet GT's are 133 (2 stage turbo)
i was most distraught when i found out my 2L V6 Mivec engine only pumped out 13KW more than my then GF's 1300 2 stage turbo Starlet GT
anyway, its gotta be more than 100 atw, id say about 125kw, but then you have to factor in aftermarket wheels as well... i love my stockies, they're so light!
Mine revs at about 8500-9000
or 6500 first gear cold (opps)

Welcome to the club mukow - and FTO is a great choice of car
Redline - yep is 8000 ish and they sound so good when the mivec kicks in
kW - well 90 to about 105 was the outcome (at the wheels), depending on whether GPX is manual or tip, at our last dyno day - the GPX tips averaged between 92 - 99 (depending on the mods - POD filters/exhausts etc) and the GPX manuals averaged 101 - 103kW at the wheels.
Then you get something like Kavemans GR manual which is 105 at the wheels (but he's got a fair few mods and a piggyback computer thingamijig......

sorry - woeful is my knowledge when it comes to computerised things)
When did you last get yours dynoed? Would be great if you could post up the sheet
Cheers
Tanya

yeah u gotta kate it coming out of a roundabout and you hand accidentally knocks the gear shifter to tiptronic and u wonder why 1st hit the limiter at 9k
or 6500 first gear cold (opps)
yeah its no fun when mates come over and u gotta let the thing warm up before they get to hear it.

Believe me most people would be over the moon if a stock FTO put out 125kw atw's. A turbo charged GPX running 5PSI of boost would make around 150kw atw.
Every FTO that i have seen dyno'd runs between 90-100KW atw's.
There is no way an FTO would make 125kw ATW stock!

125kw for stocky?? i guess u never took you car to the dyno then (look at steve heehehe) U b lucky if a stocky goes anywhere near 105kw atw.
Ohhh & about after market wheels, there are lots of ppl i know have aftermarket wheels that are either same weight or lighter then the stock. I know mine & mikey's one are (GPXXX)

i'm curious, what do you mean by "2 stage turbo" Schumie?
although i agree with you that the FTO should have a bit more HP (who doesn't

), I'm curious as to why you are comparing an NA motor to a turbo motor? yes there is a 700cc difference between the two but don't forget, the FTO makes more power in NA form without any assistance from the use of forced induction (and this was a significant achievement back in the mid 90s), whereas the Starlet relies heavily on the puffer itself to make its power from the 1300cc donk (and as you know, anything with a turbo can be EASILY tweaked to make serious mumbo, provided you have the necessary hardware to cope)
don't get me wrong though, i like Starlet GTs (though they look shyte P they are quick little' rippers) but I don't think it's a fair comparison between the two... It's like comparing apples & oranges

2 stage turbo ... theres a button on the dash that somehow opens the turbo abit more? i dunno how it works, but my ex used to keep it on 1 cause it used to drink fuel when it was fully open,
and i was annoyed at the KW cause i hastled her car for being a "nana starlet" (yes i know gt's are anything but, but they still look nana) and my big sports car "only" had a few more KW
still surprised by the KW atw, no mine hasnt been dynoed, im not really interested in tuneing it too much, its my everyday car that i have a bit of fun with occasionally, more than satisfies my pedal urges

Hell i dunno, shes my ex im not about to go ask her
um it had a turbo gauge on it though, the harder you press on the accelerator the more the turbo gauge went up...
use google my friend
In 1990 the Starlet GT Turbo (EP82) was released. A new shape was given to the Starlet, more modern. It has a dual mode turbo, a smaller engine boasting more horsepower than its predecessor, and a more aggressive look. It had a 1.3 litre DOHC 16 valve 4 cylinder engine. The two mode turbo allowed the driver to change boost levels. On low mode only 115hp was available cutting down on petrol consumption while normal mode unleashed a healthy 135hp for spirited performance. Interior improved over pre-1990 model but still looks very cheap with plastic and vinyl interior. Power steering and power windows.

I think what mikey mean is what aftermarket mod it come with when your ex brought it, not the standard stuff....

ummm, are you sure you're not confusing 135hp to 133 KW??

Starlets 100kw at the fly stocko so about 60-70 atw, Hi/Lo button is just an electronic boost controller that bleeds when on hi
