Rather than hijacking other unrelated topics, i figured perhaps we should create a separate thread for y'all to share your stories about your 'runs' against other cars...

Go on then... who's up for a kick-start?

A guy in a 180SX pulled up next to me last week and started revving but thinking it was probably turboed and modded, I chose to ignore him. Its only when he pulled away rather slowly that I figured he might be a non-turbo so I figured I'd give it a go at the next set of lights. Long story short, beat him by a rather large margin and got the thumbs up from the driver too! :D

The guy in the VT was a crap driver or not trying????
Had a nice cruise with a lexus IS300 (think thats it, looks like a corolla with clear tail lights). Was good driver too.
Now if only you knew how fast we were cruizin...

I was on my way home from picking up my new FTO and I got lashed by a WRX from a set of lights. I mistook it for a magna in the dark - I was inconsolable.

At least FTO's don't look like frogs.

Hahaha...ha.. yea...frog. My brother-in-law has a 2003 STi and come to think of it, it does look a little like a frog. Buh its a very-very fast frog. But as far as I am concerned I only got the munnies fer a gpx FTO or the R33 gts-t (turbey fun at 187kw). Now in Adelaide Skylines are way too common, if you want a head turner, the rare FTO is the way to go.

What I wanna know is how a gpx would fair up against the R33 gts-t.
Does anyone know the 0-400m times for both vehicles?
Has anyone had a 'run' with the gts-t? - What happened?
And providing both vehicles are in good condition and all variables are consistant (driver skill, blah, blah..) how much would the losing vehicle lose by?

 Hungry for a better car.

I have a soft spot in my heart for the XR AU Utes. They were the only really good things to come out of the AU series.

you are not going to believe this....

I LOST TO A STOCK GLI LANCER WITH AN AIRFILTER!!!

Could not believe it... I was down at the rocks in my man fto GPX... We stopped clear and went twice, both times i lost?!!!

These might just be the reasons:

1. He was lying, (i think i might have even heard a turbo there)
2. I had 3 in my car, whereas he only had 2.
3. I drove like crap (i know that that CANNOT BE)
4. My car hasn't had a service in around 40000k's (insane i know, but just bought recently and havn't had the chance to get round to it)

He was rice so i suspect there were a lot of mods under the hooddd...

Anyways, i feel better getting that embarrasing incident off my back

usually, things like "What a shame" comes to mind, but hey sh*t happens right? you never know - it might be a sleeper... There is a CE Lancer in Melbourne with stock wheels & bodywork that clocked low-mid 12s @ Calder Park not long ago... I guess you cannot trust what you see these days! :?

EDIT: that Lancer is now running low 11s at last night's Calder off-street drags!!!

I find that if you have even one passenger in the car, you can lose quite a bit of acceleration. If you think about it, an extra 70kg can make a difference to a light car like the FTO.

Thanks dude.

Just over a second ain't too bad, and the FTO has it's advantages. Just wanted to know cos if I'm getting a gpx I wanna know it's in touch with the Commies of Adelaide, Skylines.

Actually, anything to cream Bommadores makes me happy..

...and as G_A_V would point out, just a manual GR alone should do the job nicely. ;)

there is some formula the drag racers use???
Half a second for every 10-20kg??? Something like that....
