Oil Control Valve Unplugged, What Happens.

I recently have had a major service, in which i had the following things done. My car is consistently slower then it what it used to be. I have a RSM, and have done 4/5 runs on it from 0km to 100km. And I have found that my car is consintently slower by about 0.6 of a second. I tried changing fuels, and resetting ECU, but still no good.
This is quite a considerable difference, that's why i'm worried.
- Engine Oil
- Gearbox Oil
- Filter Oil
- Filter Fuel
- Timing Belt
- Tappet Clean & Adjust
- Cam Seals
- Rocker cover gasket
- Tappet Adjustment
- All 6 Spark Plugs (Platunum)
- Tune
- Carby & Throttle Body Clean
What could make such a big difference, it is meant to go faster after a major service, after all it did just get new platnum plugs... etc...

So how can you tell if the timing is off, and the timing belt isn't on correctly. You have to pull it all of to have a look at it? or can you just plug it into a computer?

get yourself a timing gun from somewhere and use it... it says how to use it in the workshop manual...
if your timing belt was on wrong, im pretty sure you'd notice...
but anyway, get a timing gun, from supercheap or kmart or something, connect the clip to the spark plug lead going to cylinder 1, and aim the light gun down towards the timing marks on the drive belt side of the engine... it should read 10 degrees before top dead centre...
the workshop manual has a much better explanation... and the timing gun should come with instructions too..

whoooo hoooo....
Problem Solved, I dug around and checked everything today on my car.... and it appears that one of the plugs was unplugged....
After spendind more then 30 minutes deciphering the wiring diagrams I found out that the actual plug was the "Oil Control Valve" the one on the LHS of the engine. that is why my car was slower.
If anyone knows the details of how VVt works then you guys should know, but Mivec is a similar principle.
At 6000rpm, the ECU sends a signal to an oil control valve at the end of the camshaft that puts oil pressure behind a lock pin in the rocker arm, sliding the pin under the spring-loaded slipper follower, locking it to the rocker arm and forcing the arm to follow the high-rpm cam profile.
This basically means that Mivec wasn't kicking in properly, I could hear it kick in, but it didn't kcik in one side...
After pluggin it back in I can actually hear it. The first run convinced me that was the solution as i got 0.05 close to my PB, without a proper launch.

timing gun is for ignition timing dude, not cam timing.
