Staying in mivec power range on shift?

I know with Tiptronic even if I shift late it doesnt seem to keep the fto in the mivec range on the next gear. especially when using auto. It changes gears and falls out of mivec range making a slow acceleration sound and experience. does the manual suffer from this? I know when wheels did the test the celica VVTi-L suffered the same thing but the type R was spot on

Only way to avoid it seems to be to change gear at 8000rpm :)

if you change at redline you should be at the very beginning or very close to MIVEC.

This was however one of the reasons as to why the series II FTO had a 5 speed tip.

When you drive normally and dont rev hard and use the tip to change up gears the gears change right away but when you are revving high up in th erev range say in mivec and you shift up a gear with the tip the tip doesnt change right away,. It seems like it revs abit more and then changes. is this by design?

When you flick the tip lever you are not actually changing gears, rather you are sending a signal to the tip ECU telling it that you want to change gears, it then changes the gears based on what it considers to be the optimal situation and the one that will avoid damage.

It's a very smart little tip box

smart indeed. I wonder if its actually going to 8000rpm while in Mivec so on the next gear I am close to Mivec range again? Hmmmm.

mine changes at 8000rpm and its a tip, i find that leaving it in auto is the best for straight line acceleration, and of course manual tip for twisties

I've got a 4 spd tip and if i change at 8000rpm (in tip mode) it changes at about 8250 which is basically the rev limiter anyway, but when the gear changes, it lands about 5000rpm which is pretty damn close to mivec!!!
